Positive Comments: This song has potential, but it does have some flaws.

Constructive Comments: First the tempo is wrong, this song actually needs to be sped up a little, not a ton, but it needs to be faster. Of course if you do that then the fact that you don’t have any instrumental interludes between lyric sections becomes a real problem as your run time gets way too short.second, this song needs to be sung by a woman, unfortunately a man singing this song just sounds like whining.Third there are lyrical inconsistencies, “she could make your head spin” should be “she could make my head spin” The person singing is too focused on what she has done to him to worry about what she does to others. Every lyric needs to back up that idea of their relationship and not mix other people in there. Please don’t take these comments negatively, this song HAS market potential, just needs to be cleaned up and a little more work, and a female singer wouldn’t hurt either. Keep in mind that is not saying your singing is bad, it is saying your singing is a bad fit for this song when it would be more poignant and marketable coming from a woman.

Positive Comments: I really liked the song, the composition, the lyrics, the vocals and the instruments, but this has a couple flaws holding it back.

Constructive Comments: I liked how you handled the intro, problem for me was it was too long. I think you could have ended the intro at :16 and it would have been more impactful, instead it carries on to :35 and by then it devolves into a gimmick. I went back and re-listened to that part and honestly I don’t think the lyrics that come after that :16 mark make a difference. So consider that change. All my other critical comments are about your mix. It is very out of balance. The vocals are way to high in the mix and keep peaking. Vocals should not cause peaks in your mix. One issue you are having is when she is adding more punch to her vocals, she is leaning into the microphone. It is counter intuitive that when you want to hit the lyrics harder you actually need to lean back. when you yell at someone your body naturally leans forward. When you do that in a recording it makes it very difficult to mix properly. It always makes the vocals turn out where half are too quiet and half are perfect, or half are perfect and half are too loud. A simple trick is when you get to that part where you want to sing with extra gusto, take one foot and step back that way you can then naturally lean forward and still be a little further away from the mic. It takes a little practice but it will make mixing easier down the road. With the instruments, they are too low in the mix, especially compared to the vocals which are too high. I think it is the result because you panned the rhythm section way left and the lead way right. It is not wrong to do that, it is quite common to do that, but you have to be careful. when you pan all the way to one side that instrument loses a lot of intensity and needs to be bumped back up to get it back. You panned but you didn’t give it a bump up, which left the musical component to get washed out at times in the track and not having the punch that it deserved. This may seem like really nit-picking stuff, and it is. But what you did was really good, if I am not nit-picking then I can’t help you be better going forward.

Constructive Comments: I think I know who you are, but if it is someone else you are making the same mistake that the other person makes in her recordings. You are overusing the dramatic pause. Dramatic pauses aren’t as big a deal if there are other instruments to carry the momentum through the pause, but when it is just one instrument it is a negative. Every time I start to get into the song, there is a pause, then i start to get into the song there is a pause. The initial pause that happens when you switch from intro to main body of the song was good. The next 40 or so pauses did not add anything only detracted from the song.

Positive Comments: That was really well done, a lot of good things going on there. That was very polished and I can tell you put in a lot of effort to try to make it the best it could be and did not just say, “oh well that is good enough” Good for you for going the extra mile, please put that kind of effort into all your recordings.

Constructive Comments: As far as critical comments, I have just two small things i did not like and a word of caution.what I did not like was the intro and the ending. Both seemed a little disconnected from the song. The first 12 seconds did not give a sense that this was an R&B song or that what followed would followed. I was expecting something very different based on the first 12 seconds, so maybe that snippet is sending the wrong message and needs to be rethought. Similarly the end I didn’t think tied in well with the whole and then just faded out. It’s funny sometimes the intro and the ending are the most stressful and hardest part of a song to get right. Just the way it is I guess. But considering the quality that is in between I would gladly take that flaw.A word of caution about the effects you put on the vocals. Typically on here when someone effects vocals they go way overboard. You did not, you used it to compliment the vocals and achieve a sound that was very appropriate for the song. I agreed with the decision, it really added to the song. But you have to keep in mind that you are going to do that whenyou are laying down the vocals. If you are going to use that level of effects on vocals you have to make sure that when you lay down the vocals you pay real close attention to enunciating the words. because when you add the effects after it can wash away the sharpness of the words and parts can become difficult to understand. The lyrics were very good I thought, you don’t want good lyrics to be washed out to the point where they stop being vocals and just become an instrument playing a melody. You were really flirting with that line in this mix and the only way to prevent it from happening, is dial the effects back just a touch or being very diligent during recording that you are enunciating the words as best you can.yes both those things are kind of nit picking. They are meant to be, the song was so well done that if it wasn’t nit-picking then there would be no useful feedback to give you.

Positive Comments: That was excellent, great voice. Please keep that in mind when you read the critical comments. With something so good the critical comments have to be very nit-picky to be of any use to you.

Constructive Comments: As the arrangement is now, I thought the song could have ended at 3:00 or 3:18 and not lost anything. The energetic guitar that came after that point was good, in fact it was better then the earlier part like that that was in English. The second part that was in non-English (Spanish or Portuguese) was actually better then the English section. If it was me, I would replace the English energetic guitar part with the non-English part at the end and then make the song end at 3:18.
