Positive Comments: That was really well done, a lot of good things going on there. That was very polished and I can tell you put in a lot of effort to try to make it the best it could be and did not just say, “oh well that is good enough” Good for you for going the extra mile, please put that kind of effort into all your recordings.
Constructive Comments: As far as critical comments, I have just two small things i did not like and a word of caution.what I did not like was the intro and the ending. Both seemed a little disconnected from the song. The first 12 seconds did not give a sense that this was an R&B song or that what followed would followed. I was expecting something very different based on the first 12 seconds, so maybe that snippet is sending the wrong message and needs to be rethought. Similarly the end I didn’t think tied in well with the whole and then just faded out. It’s funny sometimes the intro and the ending are the most stressful and hardest part of a song to get right. Just the way it is I guess. But considering the quality that is in between I would gladly take that flaw.A word of caution about the effects you put on the vocals. Typically on here when someone effects vocals they go way overboard. You did not, you used it to compliment the vocals and achieve a sound that was very appropriate for the song. I agreed with the decision, it really added to the song. But you have to keep in mind that you are going to do that whenyou are laying down the vocals. If you are going to use that level of effects on vocals you have to make sure that when you lay down the vocals you pay real close attention to enunciating the words. because when you add the effects after it can wash away the sharpness of the words and parts can become difficult to understand. The lyrics were very good I thought, you don’t want good lyrics to be washed out to the point where they stop being vocals and just become an instrument playing a melody. You were really flirting with that line in this mix and the only way to prevent it from happening, is dial the effects back just a touch or being very diligent during recording that you are enunciating the words as best you can.yes both those things are kind of nit picking. They are meant to be, the song was so well done that if it wasn’t nit-picking then there would be no useful feedback to give you.
