Positive Comments: Wow this takes me back I think I am going to hear “Everybody Wants To Be Together” by Sade… the congas and keys took me there… then I am immediately shown to be wrong. Song has a nice feel and the sounds are pleasant.

Constructive Comments: I love this song! Everything sounds like a keyboard and quantized. You did the best you could with the instruments you have to work with.

Positive Comments: Nice 6/8 beat gets me interested immediately. Oh my, by :30 seconds I am in love with this singer. Vocal phrasing is so amazing… Just right. Very nice example of doubling beginning at :50. A very original sound and music creation. Has many layers, very good instrumentation and arrangement. I am digging the vocal treatments, the lush reverb is working well in this style. Writer, arranger and engineer are on fire! Mad talent. Slight Billie Elish vibe but with much better production and yes, writing. Such a fresh sound, I super enjoyed this song!

Constructive Comments: Lacked the feel of a good live drummer… really hurt the potential of this song. In the long run I would definitely have live drums on a feel like this. The vocal was a little low in the bridge (2:40ish), really great levels on everything though. So the drum fill at 3:35 says it all. You did great with the programming or they are probably DDrums (electronic kit) it just doesn’t feel right to me.

Positive Comments: Very cute song…. And you mentioned a cat, that was perfect!! I really love the freedom of this song… how the tempo drops out and then you pick it back up. Like you have your friends over telling stories with a banjo, acoustic and fiddle. I just love this song, it has me humming along and enjoying your little diddie. I am most enjoying your vocal treatments. This is exactly what I want to hear when I review in “Folk”. Splendid from top to bottom…. IIII waaaaaant toooooo…. Move out to the country… Sittin on a porch swing… somethin with a cat. Brilliance in simplicity, delivery and story.

Constructive Comments: I wanted to hear a washboard and maybe a bass drum and castinettes every so often. Thee lack of percussion was a slight drawback. Even hand claps and random vocal interjections (I heard a few). I have to just say thank you for the smile on my face and the bounce in my gait.

Positive Comments: A nice production. Very traditional sound. The instrumentation is beautiful. Love the live tracks, violin, acoustic and electric guitars all are mixed well. The song blows up at :57 and turns into a beautifully orchestrated piece. A simple hook which leaves the listener singing it after the song is finished. That’s the sign of a good songwriter. Very solid recording and performances from the musicians.

Constructive Comments: The entire mix is a little heavy in the higher frequencies and lacks a good solid and warm bottom end. One drawback for me is that the overall character of this song is too familiar and sort of been done. It reminds me of the great Glenn Campbell. I felt like all the notes were not executed as well as I like to hear that’s why the 3. All the great instruments are there so I don’t know what to suggest to maybe give it a little more originality. It is a nice song though so congrats!

Song: Are you there?

Positive Comments: Wow, there is really something special going on here. The extreme raw nature of this is a big part. What would detract from many songs is what makes this really work… we hear authenticity, passion, and a haunting beauty that few of us could emulate with that single mic and a piano with loud clunky pedals. It is perfect. The voice is wonderfully organic and transitions from those near-falsetto notes to the lower register very well while maintaining an authentic pitch and timbre that is a breath of fresh air compared to many tracks these days.It isn’t a fancy or flashy production. Part of me would love to hear a stronger “hook” coming around, or a bit more refined mix… but in the end, I wouldn’t change a damned thing.

Constructive Comments: A beautiful song. I am torn as to whether a stronger production would add to or take away from this… it is beautiful and raw, but maybe toou much so at some points for it to have broad appeal. But I am a big fan.:)
