Song: Sad and Blue/Penny Towers Wilber vocal

Reviewer: Groove Fondue

Positive Comments: Very nice and smooth vocal along with sparse instrumentation give it a very nice retro feel. Works well for me, very nicely done. Enjoyed it very much.

Constructive Comments: I personally would have preferred some of the harmonies to be up in the mix some more as they were so nicely done. However, I realize I tend to like harmonies a bit more upfront than most. Regardless, well done!

Positive Comments: Cool groove, with some “Susie Q” by Credence vibe to it. The percussive nature of the guitars really fits with the rock-solid drumming. While the bass seems buried in places, it sounds great in others. You can tell this is a strong band and it’s extremely tight for a blues jam. I love that!

Constructive Comments: Why is the quality so ‘dirty’ for the first 45 seconds? I almost clicked out, but then it got clear and clean, which the song deserves. I’d take out virtually all the over-driven parts and re-mix this with a clean ballsy version that would do it proud. Music Supervisors aren’t going to listen to a distorted 45 seconds to get to the meat, and there’s too much meat on the bone to let that happen!

Positive Comments: What an interesting piece! Usually prog rock on Broadjam is not progressive at all, but this is extremely well-recorded and the players can play. Surprising to hear such a Classic sound on the organ compared to a lot of prog tunes. Nice! I really could listen to this kind of song all night. Great chord progression, amazing balance on the various instruments, this is a winner. Superb sound on bass and drums, too!

Constructive Comments: At 7:00 you need to load at least one “edited” version of this to keep a Music Supervisor’s attention. I’d try to put in something like a 4-minute and a 2-minute cutdown.

Song: till the end

Positive Comments: Interesting little tune. The chord pattern is interesting, and it sounds like this might be the backing track to a vocal piece. I’d love to hear this mixed with a greater balance on the instruments and less panning, but overall a nice listen.

Constructive Comments: Taking nearly a minute and a half to get into a melody seemed long to me, but it’s very well-played with a lot of promise. My taste would be a more traditional mix without all instruments left, right, far left, far right. I listen in headphones so that was distracting.

Positive Comments: Very nice pop-rock sound. Surprising to hear an organ in a folk tune, but it works just fine. The balance on the instruments is very good and while the vocals a a little dry, it’s melodic and the harmonies are pretty tight. Good tune.

Constructive Comments: The mix sounds a little dated, and I think the harmonies need 1-2 more parts. The 2 part is a little simplistic for my taste, but overall it’s a solid song.
