Broadjam Artist: Craig Bishop
Song: Ridin High
Reviewer: Jeff Roberts
Positive Comments: This starts with a bang like Springsteen song from the 80’s. This is very musical with a solid song construction and tight execution of all parts. The chorus is really balanced with the rhymes, hook and phrasing. This sounds like a song that could have been a deep album cut from Nazareth in the late 70’s.
Constructive Comments: All IMO here, and it may sound a bit harsh–I think your musical talent is obvious–I’m picking at the elements, not the artist. This is a dated sound (I do the same all the time and it’s about pleasing your own taste). The vocal is very nasal and too high. I’m sorry to say that–but if you change the key to a lower register I bet you could change that. The guitar is a bit mid-boxy–too much of a “Boston” Rockman sound. The bass sounds like you programmed it on keys–it’s all a mechanical 8ths on the tonic–it would add so much more if it breathed. The drums have a syndrums/rototoms sound, again not real enough.

Positive Comments: Very cool riffage coming right out of the gate. Well played and a well constructed song all together. Over all sound of the recording to my ears is Ok, but to someone elses it could be better then Ok. Cool guitar solo and rhythm section keeping it simple and neat. I can definitely hear this riff being played on some kind of first person shooter game that my nephew plays. I hear riffs in this vein all the time in those kind of video games.
Constructive Comments: Overall great job. I was referring to the mix and how it could pop a little more but that is subject and doesn’t take away from the quality of the song.Keep up the good work. Looking forward to hearing more

Broadjam Artist: Ian Ritchie
Song: Realm
Reviewer: Sheena Coote
Positive Comments: I loved the drama in the tune and it developed like an exciting trip into the unknown. There is some excellent musicianship and the different instrumentation was clever and uplifting. This would be great as a short sound track in a film and overall it left me feeling moved and adventurous. I think this would be great as an introduction to a television progamme also.
Constructive Comments: I could not better it really. The quality of the recording was secondto none and the build up to the climactic ending was excellent. I would like to hear other music by the artist and could have a great career in writing for film and television if they haven’t already. I loved the whole ambiance of the track and thought it was rather beautiful.

Song: Tenderly

Positive Comments: Sincere and heart felt ballad, nice changes and arrangement, seems pretty obviously to be about the birth of a child, I’m sure there is an audience for this song, you just need to find it.
Constructive Comments: Some of the instruments sound a bit cheesy , but overall the real Weak spot would be vocals, they sound strained and to loud in spots. The song is good but vocals this weak are going to cause you problems in a competitive commercial environment.

Song: Let’s go back

Positive Comments: I really liked the lyrics in this song, and the great pictures you painted in my head. The bridge at the 2:40 mark was great and at that moment David bowie popped out, and Iggy pop was on back ups, very cool to me, and really liked the way the vocals played of each other at that point of the song.
Constructive Comments: Something that always strings me along whether it be music or movies is the dynamics. This song seemed to have one gear and it stayed there even when it had much potential to build up to something great. I mentioned the bridge that I really liked around the 2:40 mark, however when you exited the bridge you came out with what seemed to be the intention of keyboard solo. This seemed to kinda take me out of this great flow you momentarily and I really anticipated the chorus to come back strong there, instead you left me hanging with the keys there and kinda lost that great build up you had.

Song: Lounge Act
Reviewer: Jon Lyons, Song Writer and Performer
Positive Comments: I can say for sure that you had an Idea of where you wanted the song to go and a ideal of the feel you wanted your song to carry. Through some of your transitions I could sense what you were attempting to portray here.
Constructive Comments: I believe that you certainly have to focus on the dynamics of your music, the saying “less is more” is something you should really practice here. If you are wanting this song to really have energy, then it has to have a place to go, it has to have room to build, but you are hitting ip to the top from the get go, and it just has no room to build up. The splash cymbal seems way to much and is very distracting to what your trying to reveal here, just removing that would help greatly. The bass is to much out front and should be set back a little more. I would really like to here this song again when you have a little more patience with it, and let it build up with some dynamics.

Song: Sunday In The Summer
Reviewer: Jon Lyons, Song Writer and Performer
Positive Comments: I do like the lyrics in this song, I like the fact that I would certainly sing along with the “Sunday in the Summer” very catchy and hard to resist. I like the snappy drums in this song as well and gives the energy to carry the song along and keep interested.
Constructive Comments: I was not a big fan of some of the transitions in the song that kinda took me out of the groove. I was very hopeful for more of a dynamic build up in the song because I felt you definitely had the hook, but were lacking the dynamic builds to really sink the hook in and land it. Still kept me along for the ride 🙂
