Positive Comments: Solid chord construction here and a nice groove once the tune kicks in. There’s quite a bit of arranging skill in evidence here!

Constructive Comments: This is way too “band in a box” to be appreciated as an original piece. Done with with real instruments and a vocal/lyrics on top you’ve got the bones of a very good song!

Positive Comments: This would be good and groovy electronic music for eating a hot ham and cheese sandwich. How do I know this? Because I just heard this music as I was chowing down on a big yummy ham and cheese sandwich! This music set a nice a pace as I carefully intermingled a few potato chips into the groovy moments. My bro says he likes this kind of music when he’s slickin’ back his hair while looking in the mirror – he does that a lot. LOL … The lady next door is banging on the wall, wanting us to turn this down. Grooovy…

In The Dark / Smooth Jazz by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Broadjam Artist: Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods
Song: In The Dark / Smooth Jazz

Reviewer: Mike Cantwell – TalentEast Productions

Positive Comments: Good work. Ice feel to it.

Constructive Comments: OK, here goes. STOP playing the piano melody when the vocal is singing. If you are using the melody to sing to (which I have done myself), later turn that melody down to very low volume or completely off. It would be better with accompliment without the melody during the vocal. The piano melody is fine when there is no vocal. Also, it makes it hard to hear the lyrics with the Piano melody in the way. Maybe, just play through the chords and record it. Let the piano melody play where there is no vocal. Remix and replace the song with the revised version. You could even harmonize with yourself on the hook, if so, keep the harmony at a lower volume. Don’t overdo. I think I would like to hear the song if you revise it.

Broadjam Artist: Kitty Matkins
Song: Whispers In The Darkness

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: You managed to get the same piano tone as John Lennon’s Imagine (and that’s classic). This feels very Carol King, Janis Ian, or Melissa Manchester. It’s classic old school Pop. The vocal is passionate and there’s a really nice thick timbre. The arrangement skillfully wraps all around the vocal performance

Constructive Comments: The recording sound is rough, as if it was tranferred from another medium (tape). So what clearly was a rich sound doesn’t sound as good as it should here. This isn’t a current approach, but it’s a very musical one!!!

Positive Comments: Love the soprano sax, very nicely played jump swing blues. I could see this on something like ” Prairie Home Companion ” by Garrison Keillor, very down home feel.

Constructive Comments: If I was to point to a weak spot it would be the vocals, which while not awful or even bad, sound a little stilted for this style, and the tone and articulating is a little flat … ie … not soulful or really jazz. But the backup band is crackers, and overall it’s got a nice folksy feel.
