Song: Soul

Reviewer: Martin Pescatore

Positive Comments: Cracking tune. Love the vocal hook – a real earworm. Love the brass (?) noodling in the background during the verse. The breakdown is excellently understated, avoiding any cliches.Good solid drums that really suit the hypnotic feel of the track overall.

Constructive Comments: I’m realy being picky here, the track seemed to overstay its welcome ever so slightly on the first couple of listens – but I got used to it!

Positive Comments: Very cool Country Song and very funny as well, I like the drums and the lead guitar, reminds me a little of Hoyt Axton.

Constructive Comments: I like it however, the recording is still a little rough and there are a spots in the song that need to be filled in with drums beats and maybe a lead guitar – best wishes!

Positive Comments: Love this song it is very moving. The lyrics are powerful and I’m able to picture the scenes of our Lord being taken away, beaten and nailed to the cross I can picture the disciples and His mother Mary at the cross agonizing over His death. Great job!The music is very moving, perfect for this song.

Constructive Comments: No criticism, the song is great just as it is.

Carmelita Dancing by STEPHEN CONNOLLY

Broadjam Artist: STEPHEN CONNOLLY
Song: Carmelita Dancing

Reviewer: Jeff Maguire

Positive Comments: Reminds me of a cross between Robert Palmer and ZZ Top, funky little r&b grove with some nice slide.

Constructive Comments: The groove is cool, the whole new wave goes blues boy is cool and it definitely reminds me of ZZ Top. It’s well played. The lyrics seem a little obscure for a blues song, not bad, just no obvious hook other than there’s ” nothing like “, and then a list of clever rhymes that don’t really have anything to do with each other, than someone might be dancing in the moon.

Constructive Comments: the only thing i would say would be to make the song longer. it seems to start and stop too quick and i wanted to hear more. maybe doubling the length and building it up more over the whole track would work?cheers,S

Positive Comments: Hey,Caught my attention right away. Big fan of all of the music. The Harmonies with the synth lines add quite a bit of intrigue and ‘like-ability’ to the track. The mix seems good as well. keep it up.

Constructive Comments: I’ve got a few suggestions just as i compose similar music and listen to electronic 90% of the time when I’m listening to music. The 1st few bars of the track would work well again as a bridge. 1. I think having a clear bridge in the song would add to it. something that comes abruptly, stops/starts with maybe a half time feel. like a breakdown. 2. the vocals seems a little muddy. i had a hard time making out the lyrics through the track. a little more high end eq’ing and vocal dictation when tracking would’ve helped it become a little clearer. 3. for the style of music, i feel like the vocals could be effected way more. not necessarily pitch wise but maybe some more mid filter eq’ing, reverb and delay FX would really help the overall vibe of the song. keep up the good work cheers, S

Positive Comments: Definitely gets you moving, very tuneful and melodic 50’s style rocker with a touch of the modern. Maybe a little Billy Joel influence in the do wop style.

Constructive Comments: Very nicely done for the most part, nice to here a real keyboard player for a change, though in spots it might be a little overdone. Same with the Bop Bops towards the end, maybe just a tad overdone. Lyrics are kind of standard. Very enjoyable listening though, nice arrangement.
