Positive Comments: I liked the classic country feel to this song. We don’t hear the old school country as much and that’s a shame.

Constructive Comments: Unfornately they are not playing this kind of music on country stations anymore, s I don’t see it as a radio song. However I could see it working well in a scene for a movie.I think I would direct it for that path. It remided me of Johnny cash.

Positive Comments: I thought this song had a nice folk music feel, I would not say country. I liked the lyrics, Kind of took me back. The story telling was very good.

Constructive Comments: As a constructive critism I think it needs to be a few speeds faster. There were times when it dragged a little. Perhaps another layer of guitiar in the back ground would help a little. I liked the lyrics, My mom and dad sell antiques, so I related to the old junk lyric. Themelody was a little slow for me but that is just my thoughts. Good luck with it.

Positive Comments: Solid hook in a well written country/rock style with strong present vocals.

Constructive Comments: Hook is good, I wouldn’t call it killer, but it’s good, overall well written and performed. Guitar solo is decent but in this context unnecessary … IMO ….. could have a shot at getting into soundtrack or background music the right context.

JUST A WORD (featuring Michael Laidley) by Sam Cooper

Song: JUST A WORD (featuring Michael Laidley)

Reviewer: Charlie Shock

Positive Comments: I love how absolutely natural & “granola” this track is. I must confess that it caught me a little off guard in the pop category, but none of that really matters. What really matters is that the song is well written & genuine & that it grabs the listener’s attention (which it totally does)!!!

Constructive Comments: Keep up the GREAT work & Good Luck!!!

Positive Comments: This song is terrific. The vocals are great. The lyrics are very nice. I love the chord progression. This would be a hit song if not for the fake sax sounds.

Constructive Comments: Fake sax sounds are terrible. You should record a real sax on the intro and solo section of this great song. Or get rid of it altogether and replace it with a nicer sounding synth.

Positive Comments: Well written highly sentimental little ditty with an obvious hook .

Constructive Comments: Well it’s not a blues by any means, and getting your stuff to the right audience is a big deal. It is a well written song though highly and overtly sentimental, which for me does not work. However, I’m certain their are many people for whom it can work if you get it in front of them. I’d say this is tailor made for a county pop audience of mostly elderly and middle aged people with children and grandchildren. Maybe even in the background of something like a Hallmark greeting card commercial showing grandparents and grandchildren, kids playing with dogs and so forth. I wouldn’t play it to a blues crowd.

Song: Just The Same

Reviewer: Bobby Caputo

Positive Comments: This song is strong out of the gate…first verse tells you everything you need to know. The singer is loved by someone who doesn’t care about fancy things and money. The rawness of the vocal seems to work here as it’s flawed and real…very believable.

Constructive Comments: After the first verse it gets confusing…especially the chorus…Now you love her just the same…do you mean she has no money too?….or do you mean you love her the same way…The singer hits a really bad patch….a lot of the “Just the same” are flat…don’t know how you could miss that…key change in order…might help.

Song: I Never Thought I’d Ever Feel This Good

Reviewer: Bobby Caputo

Positive Comments: This is an old fashioned little love song that could fit in the 40’s as a ukulele tune or a 80’s country song ala Charlie Pride. The hook is certainly memorable and the singer is sincere, for sure.

Constructive Comments: The lyrics don’t help the hook at all. Can’t tell if the person is there or gone….”I must say I missed you” “happy when you hold me” “I never felt so understood”……hard to tell if it’s now or then…little imagery outside of sparkling blue eyes.
