Positive Comments: Great idea for a song. The phrase “Here’s an Idea” just wreaks of cynicism. A major putdown with tongue firmly placed in cheek. Under the guise of trying to be “fair”, the lyrics really fit in today’s society. Especially during election season.

Constructive Comments: The singer seemed far removed for the music bed. Recorded at a different studio…or even over the phone it so weak…Singer really slept through this…where’s the enthusiasm …it was like Steve Earle on muscle relaxers. I redo would be great…same music…different vocal take.

Constructive Comments: Vocalist seems ill suited for this song. Can’t put my finger on it, but he just sounds uninspired and not into the lyrics.

Positive Comments: Very calming musical score maybe useful as background for opening of a feature movie. I can see Julia Roberts in some midwestern city walking up stairs…coming down escalator….crossing a bridge. Scene fade….

Constructive Comments: Need to shave the head…4 second delay coming in. Thought the guitar at the beginning was misplaced and a little clumsy.

Positive Comments: That’s a great instrumental bed. I didn’t give higher marks because no vocals. In my head I can kinda hear some lyrics wanting to come through. Guitar parts go well together, organ is a nice touch during ‘chorus’. Piano part does not add anything for me.

Constructive Comments: I hear a little bit of my guitar idols, Leslie West, Billy Gibbons in there. If I was playing the guitar, I would have found some room for some pinch harmonics, ok, I just heard one.If I was playing piano, I might try some ascending/descending chord inversions rather than the static quarter note chords. If I get a chance, I’ll check out some more of your tunes, so I can put this in perspective of how it fits in to what your doing.

Positive Comments: Kind of Dr John meets Tom waits. Vocalsgreat creepy yet amusing. Drums good, bass good, could come up a bit. Organ, pretty good, I would rather hear more legato swells from the organ and less of the static piano chords. Sorry, but I am highly opinionated as a musician and producer.

Constructive Comments: I picture a somewhat disheveled man dancing around in an alley to this tune. Go ahead and use that for the video if you want. Again, the star is the vocals, drums next, bass should come up, some tastful organ swells, less piano chording.

never had a chance by The Sugar Pups

The Sugar Pups

Broadjam Artist: The Sugar Pups
Song: never had a chance

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: That’s a really ominous intro, almost like an Audioslave tune or similar. Then when the tune kicks in you go to a classic 70’s sound like Procol Harum or Deep Purple. I like the dropouts with the nasty guitar breaks. The bass & drums are both very energetic, fluid, and tastefully constructed. And the keyboards? Killer This is very original yet classic at the same time tune with some superb musicianship.

Constructive Comments: The vocal melody could be a bit more musical, and some of the lyrics/phrasing are a bit dull in places. I would argue against going into the “Billy Joel” section, as this is too abrupt a switch I think.

Positive Comments: I really liked this…kind of an anti-religion song, huh? Lyrics are gripping and interesting through out…a little cliche’d but it was kinda needed to make the point e.g. “praise the lord and pass the ammunition” The choir toward the end really cinched this for me…credible singers…and I finally got the title thanks to them.

Constructive Comments: Lead vocal overly dramatic…kinda like Ray Davies after a stroke..lol….The over annunciation was counter productive…thought you were saying Holly Road…so I was in the dark until the choir came in…then had to go back and listen again…Just sing it…don’t pronounce it…my humble opinion.
