Song: Stay Beautiful

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: Great thumping drum beat with big toms and an oh oh chorus that really sounds current and starts the song off with a bang. This is a big, positive vibe that’s very much a teen oriented sound. Everything’s right here, and this should be a theme for a tv show.

Constructive Comments: The vocals probably need a smidge of bass freq reduction.

Positive Comments: This is a very solid example of writing, performance and recording. It’s not my cuppa but I recognize the quality. Nice voice and a good hook over a great beat. Very Eurovision sort of sound, and this could be a theme for numerous program contexts.

Constructive Comments: I think this is pretty dated at this point, but I could be wrong.

Reviewer: Ober Rivers And His DUI’S

Positive Comments: Stevie Ray Vaughn meets John Mayall in his jazz/blues fusion period, two very cool things. Well executed jazz/blues instrumental. Some really nice solo work all around.

Constructive Comments: Guitar intro is way to long for commercial purposes. Some of the horn playing is certifiably awesome, especially the trumpet solo. Kept waiting for the smoking guitar solo and it was very nice indeed. Most of this arrangement is really well executed, but some of it’s impact is being lost in the length of the tune. Personally I’d go straight into full blown guitar solo rather than bringing down the band dynamic, and it’s probably too long as a whole. But the playing is top notch stuff.

Positive Comments: This has a nice smooth jazz feel with good instrumentation – and the quality of the recording is very good. Overall, this works as a smooth jazz tune.

Constructive Comments: I felt the vocal to be a little too “in-your-face”. It seemed too stark for the nice, smooth, Sade-like feel of the tune. Some reverb would blend it in much better. I also felt that the chorus would be stronger with more harmonies and maybe letting the lead vocal do something (plaintive?)in the background to make it even more interesting.
