Positive Comments: Reminds me of Sade or Shakatak. Jazz Funky. The bass leads the song and it’s a nice solid bass sound and good driving line. Piano also sounds nice and sits with the bass well. It’s a relaxed, jazzy easy listening feel.

Constructive Comments: Since there’s no vocal the sax carries the lead line and excitement. I think it’s a bit lacking in energy. It’s obviously a sample rather than real player, although it’s a good sample, but then the vocalisations aren’t super interesting. I’m marking it down really as an instrumental over a track with a vocal. I think a quality vocal would make all the difference. Otherwise the changes and arrangement are good. Possibly the bass line although good and hooky maybe needs a bit more change up in parts before bringing it back to that solid core. The strings sound very synthy to me too which is not my taste so to my ear it’s recognisably all DAW sounds.

Positive Comments: I love the short intro with acoustic guitar and ‘ooh’ vocals, (I’ll have to incorporate that trick into a song of mine in the future-). I think the lyric idea is original and engaging. Lovely lead vocal performance and excellent use of backing vocals. The song is packed with hooks. It’s very, very catchy. I like the way the instrumentation pulls back for the second verse. The sax solo was unexpected but delightful. Great arrangement all round. A genuinely beautiful song and recording.

Constructive Comments: I’ve marked down the marketing potential because the song has a retro feel and unfortunately that will hamper its marketability in 2021 . If you’d released this song in the UK in late 1960s or the 1970s you’d probably have had a top 5 single on your hands. Personally I love the song.

Positive Comments: The tune has great a feel. The lead melody is very catchy and infectious I’m singing it to myself as I type. I love the jazzy vibe. I like the change of direction at 2.01. Great sound quality. I could imagine the main theme in a film/TV soundtrack.

Constructive Comments: I’ve marked down certain categories because there is a distinct click at the end of the tune. The melody is great, but for me the bass line is too rigid and could be freed up somewhat. It sounds almost too tight for a jazz piece. The drums/percussion too would benefit from more variety in my opinion. In terms of market potential I think it would be useful to create short edits of 30, 60 seconds etc, which would really work well in commercial settings.

Positive Comments: Nice bright opening. Great instrumentation. An innovative and catchy melody. I like the piano section at 1.25 and the change of direction at 2.26. I love the jazzy touches. The inventiveness of the tune keeps the listener on board throughout. Great sound quality.

Constructive Comments: I’ve marked down the market potential because I can imagine a music supervisor scratching his head and asking himself ‘Is this jazz? Is this electronica? What is it and how do I use it?’ In addition the tune has a major key feel and I believe minor key music is more in vogue these days. That said, I think the track is great. It would be interesting to hear a Big Band interpret this piece of music.
