Positive Comments: Here’s another “love comes begging” song. I love the emphasis on WHAT? – great vocal technique there. There’s a masterful bass player having a blast in the background, subtle, but mighty. And the screaming sax – another big wow. Great blues song belted out by a great singer.

Constructive Comments: Your lyrics are pretty good, totally predictable and not terribly original. What do you want for a blues song, right? There is a lot repetition in this song. Not a terrible thing, but something to take note of. A love like that (in my personal opinion) just ain’t worth it, but it makes for a great song!

Constructive Comments: I wasn’t really fond of the break at .39. It seemed awkward.

Positive Comments: I love the way this track speaks peace to my heart. The strings coming in gradually at the beginning sweeten the track. I really like the melody and theme. It’s memorable and really pretty. This is a nicely put together instrumental. Keep the great music coming!

Constructive Comments: 1:54 I think you reduced the gain too rapidly on the strings here. Work on a more conclusive ending.

Positive Comments: Killer intro, excellent theme…I like the idea of the spiral going round and round. Effective word picture (though sad) in the back seat verse. Screaming guitars fit song well. Lead riffs great. Catchy hook. Great job. Danceable.

Constructive Comments: Verse 2 was the most descriptive. Try to make all your verses as succinct. I’m not a rock fan but you did a good job on this one.

Positive Comments: Soulmates, apart for so long and longing for each other…you can easily tell from the beautifully crafted melody, slowly loping along in minor keys. As the story unfolds, you’re wondering if they will keep their promises and find each other again. The vocals have that storytelling style of Kenny Rogers, the soft ensemble in the background compliments nicely without overtaking the song. Oh, do the soulmates find each other again? Listen to it and find out!

Constructive Comments: I sometimes think of something to experiment with. Sometimes they work, sometimes not…but how would the song feel if the last stanza drifted into a major key to give a feeling of resolve? I have no idea if that would work out nicely or if that would destroy the overall feel because it’s “their song.” But I will conclude with your terrific ability to carefully craft a melody that is actually a melody you can sing to, and to match the words with the right feel.

Positive Comments: Harold Budd, the composer of beautiful pensive wintry tunes, would have loved this. The somber gently lilting melody flows in minor keys. Several lonely but contemplative memories come through while listening to this…frosted snowy landscapes in the desert, or looking out the window at a quiet neighborhood street wondering what would have happened if… The background orchestration is fitted beautifully with finesse and compliments the piano. It beckons you to listen to it again…maybe in part because it’s hard to let go of those feelings that you’re trying to understand…but mostly because it is a beautiful piece.

Constructive Comments: Wonderfully done!

Song: Stockton Symphony Pt 3: Caught In The Grey Day

Positive Comments: An easy soft melody with oboe leading the way to start. Motif getting transferred around the orchestra and establishing a solid foundation. The evhoing continues and builds a commanding statement of a simple melody. It becomes broader with time and says much more than ever imagined from the start. A very excellent piece and execution and expansion!

Constructive Comments: While this piece is complete on its own merit, the only further expansion would be maybe in a key hange, tempo, phrasing ,elongation of notes, a little counterpoint and even more dynamic adjustment. Its hard to improbe on the original idea and adding things make subtract from the statement made from the beginning. You, the composer hs the ultimate important say in the presentation! Excellent.
