Song: You’re What I Don’t Need

Reviewer: Bill Dake

Positive Comments: Good balance of instruments.

Constructive Comments: This could use a distinct melody. The sax lead just mirrors the bass line. The progression is fine and the structure is good, it just needs a melody to tie it all together. As is, parts of it might work as a backround to a movie scene. Might not be Jazz as much as a crossover tune.

Positive Comments: Song flows along very nicely. Nice arrangement, instrumentation and vocals. Nice melody and split between verses and chorus.

Constructive Comments: Unsure of song title while listening, would have preferred it to come out more in the chorus, maybe repeated a couple of times.Had a couple of stabs at the title before settling on ‘Sorry is not enough’.

Positive Comments: The word mellow doesn’t have any meaning any more, you stole all of it. Totally nice and pleasant piece. Are you sure your not back Ksren? HOOFDA!

Constructive Comments: Turn that voice mick up a bit. Get her confidence like she had and you are gone ( to the top ). Very pleasant piece.

Positive Comments: If you’re looking for bank robber song, this is it! Bonnie and Clyde? I like the introduction – very pleasing sounds.

Constructive Comments: The song is good, but the presentation makes it “un” believable. It sounds like a song meant to be sung by a man. I’m looking for a raspy mean voice. You know, a real bank robber. The vocalist sounds like she couldn’t/wouldn’t hurt a flea.

Positive Comments: This song is a triple WOW. I have NEVER heard a song on this topic: The overweight woman. The artist/songwriter delivers an honest, heart-wrenching, compassion-inducing plea for others to understand what she is going through, and to see her as beautiful. To want a relationship with her. This song has a ministry to the obese and needs to be heard. Instrumentation is spare, but adequate. The main thing is the message and it comes across splendidly. It worked on me!

Constructive Comments: Just wish I could give you a hug and tell you you are beautiful in God’s eyes. Change want to won’t in the lyrics (typo).

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: I’ve never heard anything like this before on Broadjam. Obviously a deep thinker and skilled wordsmith, this poet/prophet delivers a sobering message and death/luck/fate. Not especially hopeful, but driving and realistic, it begs to be heard. Thought-provoking, original.

Constructive Comments: Ceasing – use a soft S instead of a hard S in your pronunciation. Your writing/creation was very thought provoking. I found my hope in God and His Son Jesus.

Positive Comments: I dig it. Interesting combo of electronic-ish beat and saxophone. When the song started I didn’t expect a sax to come in but it was interesting (good) to hear something different for a change. Four thumbs up! (If I had 4 of them) Lol!!!

Constructive Comments: The only comment I would make is on the mix. I felt like the sax was a little too hi in the mix and was over powering the rest of the instrumentation. But that is just my opinion. Otherwise it was a good listen. Thanks!!!!

Positive Comments: I enjoyed this song a great deal. Really well performed and recorded. A really catchy refrain with a warm familiar feel and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Nice stripped back phrases with well sung harmonies. Good arrangement, just what this song needs. Loved the underplayed vocal. Thanks.

Constructive Comments: Don’t know if I’d change anything really. perhaps a little more separation in the mix with a little more high end thrown in, but hey, its great, thanks and good luck.

Positive Comments: Great song, lovely acoustic picking with a good balanced overall sound. Good use of subtle strings in the mix to bed the acoustics, worked really well. Confidently delivered vocal, thanks.

Constructive Comments: The only thing I would do is back off the presence and proximity of the vocal mic, let the room or post recorded effects do their job. This really is a good song with potential, thanks and good luck with it.
