Song: We Praise You

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: Here’s an interesting praise song to the Most High God. The devotion of the writer/singers shines through from the beginning shofar blast and spoken call to worship till the very end. The song has about 3 different sections and would be appropriate in a worship service. I can almost see the congregation singing and swaying along with the singers. Very nice harmonies.

Constructive Comments: I’d bring up the vocals in the body of the song a little bit in the mix. There is a lot of repetition, but I see that in a lot of praise songs. To some it might seem a bit overdone, but my personal opinion is that the Lord deserves tons of praise…why shorten it up? If you wanted the song to be more “commercial” you might have to do that, but I suspect that is not your aim.

Positive Comments: Here’s an extremely well-written, polished cowboy country song that shines (like the moon) from the first to the last verse. Full of beautiful word pictures, the song tells the story of love lost and a man riding hard to be free, yet shackled/blinded by the memory of his love. The instrumentation is stellar on this song. I hear a fiddle player and lead electric guitar player doing a fantastic job with a great bass as well. Nicely mixed. Great production!

Constructive Comments: The only thing I can think of is to maybe beef up the vocals with a double vocal or some harmony on the chorus. This is a great tune and I wish you the very best with it. I was really impressed! Mrs. Kate

Song: Stay Here Now

Positive Comments: Here’s a heartfelt distance love song. The passion of the feeling comes through as honest and sincere. Nice arrangement with pleasant instrumentation. Some nice word pictures (warm blanket, glass of wine, sunlight sweeps across the floor). favorite lyric: I cannot take another day with you 1000 miles away. That is very catchy and memorable.

Constructive Comments: The vocal could use some improvement there are some pitch issues. I think the lyrics also need a little work. The “no no no” might be unnecessary and there are way too many “nows”. The melody needs a bit of variation, I think. Not sure, but it seems like you repeat the same musical phrase an awful lot in the melody.

Positive Comments: I like the accordion and other instruments blending in the introI would describe this as a free-wheeling, non conforming song. I feel like the writer did not care ir try to make the song follow rules or conform to song structure. As such, my impression is that it was a pure artistic expression

Constructive Comments: I marked down the lyrics because I could not hear them to make sense of that they were saying. Specifically, often I could hear the first part of the lyric sentence but not the last part

Positive Comments: Love the soft guitar strumming and soulful vocals in the verses. Thought the production and performances top notch, pro. Good song structure and I like the final chorus at end that is contrasted from the other choruses

Constructive Comments: Maybe the lyrics could he into some more specifics in the verses, such as maybe talking about the swing in the backyard under an oak tree where something special (that your lyrics express) happened And that way I think he could’ve painted picture more of the house and the emotions and brought the Listener vividly inside of the house. I think one lyric mentioned something like “in every room you did or said something special”. Forgive me if I am misquoting that but the idea that n that lyric is general. I think instead if you relate a specific memory that happened so you take the listener there instead of a general statement that “special things happened or were said”. I hope that makes sense?Overall good song!

Song: I Get The Bird Coreys

Reviewer: Timothy Reed

Positive Comments: Funny and entertaining. Great for anyone who has ever been divorced or broken up. We all get the Bird when this happens. I don’t know what artist it reminds me of. Humor wise I guess it could go back to Jerry Reed type humor. I am from Texas so the instruments fit with Texas Music. Really cool song that will be relevant to almost everyone.

Constructive Comments: I think it is just a tad bit too old school country. It will be good for everyone who loves that type music. However, I believe there are ways to modern it up just a bit. The Lyrics could really be crossover lyrics and will mean something to almost everyone. Just have to find that extra something that keeps it country but now quite so old school.
