Positive Comments: Very “western” vibe, a bit of Ennio Morricone meets Young Guns kind of feel. The whistling seals the deal.Next thing that stands out is the tastefully executed use of the stereo field in this recording, a dimension missing from far too many songs I listen to here. The instrumentation, engineering and performance is solid, my only critique being the acoustic guitars sounding more piezo-plugged-in than acoustic.Overall this is a fantastic recording production that was carefully crafted to blend all of these elements into one of the better stereo-field mixes I have heard here.

Constructive Comments: Other than getting a more authentic acoustic sound from the acoustic guitars, there isn’t much else I would add constructively. This is solid work, all around.

Song: HERE’S AN IDEA

Positive Comments: I really enjoyed this song. Well structured, the melody is broadly relatable without being clich, the vocals are very authentically performed and suit the lyrics and genre quite well. The lyrics themselves are well thought out, and have a really nice concept/message that carries throughout the song.

Constructive Comments: With a better production mix/master, I feel like it has a very broad appeal for placement or publishing. It is a solid, nice tune! All the parts seem to be in there, and performed well… it is just missing the “glue” to stick it all together in the mix.

Positive Comments: With a background of piano arpeggios, the treble piano and cello parts complement the accompaniment. Set in a minor key, this piece emanates sadness. Beautifully composed and played. I love the melody!

Constructive Comments: The cello sounded very synth to me. (Please forgive me if it was real). Seems to me that if you could work on a bit more smooth connectivity in this piece it might be improved a bit. Perhaps with an ambient strings bed in the background. I’m not sure. Properly produced, this piece might find a home in a film. (But I am certainly not an expert in that field). Work on a more conclusive ending.

Song: Are you there?

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: Here is a home recording of a stream of consciousness love song. The singer is a broken individual hoping for healing in love. Passionately sung with plenty of angst, accompanied by piano with some background ambiance from the synthesizer. Favorite lyric: Me falling while you’re standing there. Another: Spider tangled in your web. Very creative.

Constructive Comments: Probably the most glaring thing that needs work is the vocals and the way the vocals marry with the piano. There’s a lot that sounded “off” to me. This being a home recording, perhaps you were just wanting to get this recorded without polish. If that is the case, please forgive the “low” review. Keep on writing! You have some creative lyrics in there!

Positive Comments: This song reminded me of an ad in the newspaper under the singles column looking for a partner. Most of the things in the song are things I have seen in those ads. It’s a sweet song to listen to. The rhymes are fun, even though somewhat predictable. Male/female vocals suit well sometimes they almost sounded rap-like to me. Love the sax!

Constructive Comments: Just keep the good music coming. I think I know who wrote this song. Let’s see if I am right.

Positive Comments: Here is a well-crafted song with an intriguing melody, augmented by stellar vocals and harmonies. The male/female vocals complement each other in a spectacular way (you holding me/me loving you) – nicely executed! There are some really creative rhymes in this song. My favorites: afraid/masquerade oasis/places, rare/share. The guitar and bass are nicely played and mixed and the flute solo and vocal latin-scat (?) are the icing on the cake. Great job on this song!

Constructive Comments: The only thing that might detract from the marketability of this song is its long length. What really cracked me up was when I looked at the lyrics. I thought you were singing “heathen faces”, which made the song…more interesting. Then I saw it was hidden faces. Listen again and maybe you can catch what I heard from the way you pronounced hidden.

Constructive Comments: Although this is a good song, I’m a little disturbed by the arrangement….The instruments are on top of one another…. playing confusion is what the listener hears, not the happy vibe it could put off. I would pump up the drums, separate the instruments, then you’ll have a sellable song…
