Song: You Got Me Into The Music

Positive Comments: This is definitely Classic Rock with a Pop edge. Excellent guitar and rhythm section and the vocal works well too. The hook is very strong. I knew I was going to like this right from the semi-Prog-rock chords leading into the groove. Very nice and has strong potential for a retro sound if it’s cleaned up.

Constructive Comments: Unfortunately there is so much distortion – I’m guessing this was recorded on tape in the 80s? Such a nice song but any chance for commercial value would depend on somehow cleaning up the track or re-recording it. I really loved the overall feel but had to mark it down for a non-competitive sound in 2020.

Positive Comments: Nice groove, and I could easily hear this in a film/TV background, particularly a retro 70s/80s scene. The mix is very good overall with each instrument getting its own shine time. I really enjoyed listening and getting into the laid-back feel.

Constructive Comments: 2 things. The abrupt ending was just weird – I’m guessing it’s from a longer song and got cut off? If so you may want to re-load the file.Secondly, the pauses on the drums seem to be planned, but as a 20+ year professional drummer, I found them distracting (starting with the one at 0:06 seconds in, that kept repeating). If you can remix this with a smooth funk drumline, it’s a real winner. That’s the one reason I marked down some of the scoring but I loved the overall vibe!

Positive Comments: Your lyrics are actually very good.

Constructive Comments: A bit too much stereo separation in the guitars. Need to blend the vocals a little better with the instrumentation..try using backing vocals and harmonies. The last guitar chord in the song was how all the instrumentation should have sounded. Hi-e this gives you a little help. Otherwise keep writing and honing in your craft!

Positive Comments: Just a beautiful sentiment, well crafted lyrics. Your voice is very sweet to listen to.

Constructive Comments: Missing sectional contrast, meaning the verses and choruses sound a bit too similar and in need of a bridge to add interest. Other than that, it’s really a beautiful message.

Positive Comments: Upbeat number, with plenty of bounce, about the romantic potential of Louisiana. Country at its best.

Constructive Comments: Unfortunately, there were a lot of breaks in the audio. Maybe just a temporary problem on Broadjam? Anyway, I put N/A for Quality of Recording, as I really couldn’t judge that, in the circumstances. I would probably have classed this as country rock rather than Cajun, but I’m not much given to putting music into genres. Anyway, a good strong number and best of luck with it.
