Positive Comments: Strong vocal harmonies and instrumentation!

Constructive Comments: I’m not hot on this mix compared to a lot of other professional material that’s out there. It sounds thin on my monitors.

Positive Comments: Sounds like you had a good time recording this.

Constructive Comments: This was a less than professional effort, in terms of performance, but sometimes it’s more about fun. Constructively, I suggest listening to artists in this genre to A/B comparison what you’re doing in order to see if you can tell the differences.

Song: Can Anyone See

Reviewer: Bob Birthisel

Positive Comments: This has a nice Country flavor, and would likely benefit from falling under that header rather than folk. It has excellent drive and I think the instrumental version would have great potential as a film or TV scene backdrop. The vocal is steady with an outstanding blend on the backing instruments. Overall fun listen.

Constructive Comments: Personal taste, I thought the backing vocal was a bit loose and I’d have either preferred more harmonies (3+ chord lines) or none at all. But still a solid song for sure!

Song: COLD LONELY HOUSE

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: I’ve heard a lot of “she’s gone” songs on Broadjam, but this one just climbed to number one in my mental chart. There’s something about the lyrics, the story that is so real, it just grabs the listener at the beginning, garners a huge amount of sympathy that only increases to the end. The lyric writing is stellar. My favorite: Though the structure is sound, it all crashes down”. Powerful! You can almost feel the cold as the singer tells the story with a crystal clear vocal. All these colors have faded-faded to grayMatching the darkness and gloom. The hours and minutes just saunter awayAnd chill every inch of this room. This whole verse is fantastic. Love the use of the word saunter. Very creative and effective.Instrumentation is simple, but appropriate and I love the place where it kicks back in the final verse. Great harmonies!

Constructive Comments: I wish you every success in your writing/performing. You have a new fan in Indiana! For the ending, how about a harmonic for the last note?

Song: Glory, Death and Heroes part 2

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This well-produced instrumental has a scary vibe with a lot of anticipatory angst. It stirs an emotion of fear in the first section. The second section kicks off with a very expressive violin that provides a welcome break from the tension, which resumes in force. There’s a lot of power in this production.

Constructive Comments: Keep the good music coming and watch out for the dragons!

Song: WHO OWNS THE SUN

Positive Comments: This unique song transports the listener to an offbeat place where there’s an accordion or concertina player noodling around in the corner. I love the fun vibe that comes across in the long intro. “Who owns the sun?” nice phrase. I really like the instrument combo of piano and concertina/accordion. Very easygoing.

Constructive Comments: It’s kind of hard to understand what you are trying to accomplish/say with this song. I did not like the dissonant ending.

Song: I’ve Got My Telephone

Positive Comments: Now this is a FINE piece of writing! I absolutely LOVE it. Great subject matter and the writer stuck to the theme…each verse more clever than the last. Fantastic intro sets up for the rest of the composition. Love the instrumentals, especially the first one with the keys. Rhyming/lyrics are fresh and original with wry humor injected. There’s a ton of truth to this song as i-phones are the preferred appendage of many these days. Favorite rhyme: Google maps/apps. missing/kissing. Room/sonic boom. This is just all-around fantastic work. Clear vocals. Flawless production chops.

Constructive Comments: I’m no expert on “commercial” requirements, but some might say this song is too long. If you wanted to shorten it, I’d cut the second instrumental and do an outro after the final verse. I would definitely like to hear more of your stuff. By the way, I wrote a similar song on the subject called “Google It” by Kate Carpenter. Check it out if you have time. I hope it makes you smile. I also wrote another called Delete Delete Delete.
