Song: El Matador
Reviewer: Pete Papageorge
Positive Comments: I like the song overall, the vocal in particular, but the instruments sound very good and have an authentic sound. I think the arrangement is very good, and the recording is clear and balanced.
Constructive Comments: I felt that the story of the song could have more drama added to it. For instance, if during the course of the bull fight, the matador gets wounded after a dramatic stike at the bull, who is also wounded. Who will emerge victorious? Maybe the matador dies – now, there’s heartbreak for the woman who is the love interest. A tragic end? Maybe that would be more engaging a story. The song reminds me of “El Paso,” by Marty Robbins, in its overall tone. And in that song, the hero dies.
