Positive Comments: With just piano and vocal, this song hits a grand slam. The vocal is simply amazing. Crystal clear, honest delivery, perfect enunciation. I love the upper range of this artist. With a voice like this he could be singing Mary had a little lamb and I’d love it! This is a really great love song. Piano and mix are perfect. Love the ending.

Positive Comments: Wow, I’ve NEVER heard anything like this on Broadjam! The first part is an amazingly written descriptive poem. It reminds me of Thoreau (at least in concept, if not in structure). Is this a pond in Maine? Either way, it’s excellent poetry. Then…Part 2. The artist marries the poem with music with an operatic voice that is brilliant and clear. This is innovative! Very fresh and interesting to listen to. This lady is carving her own musical path in poetry.

Constructive Comments: I don’t know if there is a market for this kind of creation, but I am a poet, too, and I can recognize a great wordsmith when I hear one. Your voice is beautiful! Were you professionally trained? Just curious.

Song: You and I

Positive Comments: This is a basic demo, which is fine for getting constructive feedback. The voice and instruments are clear and balanced. The melody is nice, if a little uninspiring. The singer’s voice gets the song across.

Constructive Comments: I wish I could be more positive about this effort. The music is nice, but the lyrics need work: first, I couldn’t figure out a title right now, it’s not obvious and it should be. There isn’t a chorus, not even a refrain. Although there is a story, and it’s one of appreciation of a spouse, it’s not concise. I think the writer needs to study the fundamental aspects of songwriting and then commit to a rewrite. There are many books on the subject in my opinion, the very best one is “The Craft of Lyric Writing” by Sheila Davis. Good luck!

Positive Comments: The vocal performance is very good. Reminds me of Gloria Esteban. I also like the arrangement of the song. The sax solo is well crafted and played.

Constructive Comments: In my opinion, the lyrics are very standard and not really appealing. The instrumentation (sax, synth) and/or the synth sounds are very 80s. With more elaborated lyrics and a more modern production, this could be a hit song.

Positive Comments: There are times when repetition can be boring. This is not the case with this song. It’s got a memorable chord progression, but it just keeps getting better and better as the track builds to its conclusion. It’s got a peaceful, yet energetic groove. I really like the percussion. The well-timed stops with sweet sustained chord on the keys is very effective and pleasant to listen to. Nice job on the guitar work as well!

Constructive Comments: Was this authentic hand percussion or a computer-generated loop? I hope it was for real. It sounded great. Reminded me of Sam Rodriguez.

Positive Comments: This is a funny song, I don’t think it’s meant to be taken seriously – at least, I hope not! There’s definitely a sparkle of originality in the story line – I could see this as a SNL segment, with Fred Armisen as the addict. As a basic demo, this recording is fine.

Constructive Comments: I think the song could have real impact with a band track and a more aggressive singer, kind of like “I’m Eighteen” by Alice Cooper. I don’t know if it would be a hit, but on SNL it would be hilarious.

Positive Comments: There are some ageless, universal songs that are meant to be heard by millions. This is one of those songs. It’s a parent’s song of love for their child, so beautifully written and performed. The authenticity, wisdom, and love seeps through every lyric. This could be sung at bedtime it could be sung at a graduation ceremony. Chorus is simple… and simply beautiful. Love the way your repeated the “we will be beside you” twice. Key change is placed perfectly. Instrumentation flawless. Production and mix excellent. Background female vocal is understated but effective. Bravo!!!

Constructive Comments: Don’t change a thing. Definitely want to hear more of your songs. This was a quintuple WOW in my opinion! Mrs. Kate
