Positive Comments: Nice mood-setting vocal and instrumental arrangement. There’s a John Sebastian-like quality to this song. Very cool.

Constructive Comments: I’m quite sure that this is not intended to be too commercial, but it would be cool if there was a more obvious recurring thing, be it a lyrical or musical hook, something to audibly hang onto. Still, this was a refreshing change of pace.

Positive Comments: I think I recognize this artist and I’m already a big fan of everything I’ve heard him do. Great song, beautiful vocal performance, perfect instrumentation. I almost select the title, I CAN’T, but I’m going with MADDY. If I wrote a song for someone by name, that would have a better chance of being the title. Great job!

Constructive Comments: There is nothing that needs to be fixed or made better here. I love the tune in every way!

Positive Comments: Fantastic tune!Love the opening guitar, the tone, the playing, let’s you know that something interesting is going to follow and it really does. Love the vocals, just a great down deep in the mud “Tracy Adkins” type of voice. Works really well for this tune.Liked the solo very much, nice touch bringing in the violin there. Nice arrangement, interesting lyrics, love the “silent night” use in the song.Just very nicely done!

Constructive Comments: Everything is very good, the one thing I could mention would be the lead acoustic could have been a bit higher in the mix. There’s a run at the beginning that is buried some, I really wanted to hear it more. Other than that, extremely well done!

Positive Comments: this is some of the best I have heard in country…everthing you sang is spot on from music to lyrics, to harmony…the song is such fun.. i played it for my husband and he liked it, and he doesn’t like music. So that says a lot for me.

Constructive Comments: Good luck with this…I hope you put this up on the six pack competition…I would not change a thing.

Positive Comments: This is an amazing recording of a really well-written song about a guy who just can’t settle down…but just might change for this girl. The intro is excellent with a powerful fiddle track that engages the listener and makes the track rock from start to finish. Then the guitar comes in for an equally WOW listening experience backed by smooth bass and percussion that work perfectly. Crystal clear vocal, fantastic performance. Excellent mix and production. Bravo!

Constructive Comments: Whoever miked and mixed this track did an amazing job. Definitely would like to hear more of your work. Please tell your fiddler I really love his/her playing! And the guitar player too! Mrs. Kate

Song: Heartbroke in LA

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This is one of the most POWERFUL ballads I have heard on Broadjam in a long time. From the first verse, this excellent storyteller draws the listener in with the story of a young girl chasing her dream in Los Angeles. Love the “welcome to LA” introduction. The story is heartbreakingly familiar and true of many who chase their dreams in that town. “show some skin”. Winding up dancing in a bar. The phone call that never came. WOW. Excellent lyrics. I really felt sorry for the girl. The song hit me in the gut. Bridge is creatively written, placed and sung. Instrumental augments the story perfectly. Really pulls in the blues of it all. Vocal is clear, understandable, believable, passionate. This song should go far, really far, and I hope that it will serve as a warning to many of the dangers of chasing stardom far from home.

Constructive Comments: I think the intro is a few bars too long. One run through of that chord progression is probably enough. Throw in a little of that lead guitar into the intro. Really, though, this song is about as perfect as it gets. Bravo. I want to hear more!

Song: Help Me Get My Ships Back to the Water (Live@Ft. Lauderdale)

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: The writer uses a ship metaphor in this bluesy love song. He maintains the metaphor throughout the whole song. Live recording reveals a winsome performance. Nice instrumentation.

Constructive Comments: Work on clarity in diction (perhaps Chicago blues is a certain style I am not familiar with). At about 1:50 the volume surged in the mix. Knowing that it was a live performance/recording, this is probably not fixable. Vocal seemed pitchy at times. Thank you for my introduction to Chicago blues!
