Constructive Comments: not much to add on this unique, well crafted tune sending a great and needed signal to young, precious daughters and loved ones.I only wish the bass and drums would have kicked in late on the third verse===but i always appreciate simple—as I believe 90% of recordings are overproduced these days!Yours in Harmony Catnip=+=

Positive Comments: The recording and arrangement are of a high quality. The lyrics have a kind of shock value that is attention getting.

Constructive Comments: I don’t think the voice goes with the lyrics. Perhaps some type of voice distortion would further enhance the song. The smooth disco-sounding instrumentation also seems counter to what is being sung. The “Hands of Time” are at first apparent but soon fade out. Why does the ticking stop?

Song: Winter Leaves

Reviewer: MCarollShaw

Positive Comments: Good smooth jazz feel to the song. The instrumentation as well as the arrangement leaves nothing to be desired.

Constructive Comments: Lots of words in the lyrics. Recommendation- simplify and make it specific. For example, “Who knows the reason our love changed like the seasons/ Caught in a rainstorm with no coat.” (Do you feel the greater impact?) Excess words reduce the impact. Generalities such as “love can change like the seasons” risks loosing the listener’s attention.

Positive Comments: Even though the sentiment can hardly be said to be new, the lyrics are good. The song is easy to listen to and reminiscent of a bye-gone era. It has a delightful country dance music vibe. The guitar playing is very good. The recording is clear and bright.

Constructive Comments: I have no objection to this music, but I do not ever hear music like this any more. What to do about it, I don’t know.

Song: It’s A Lie

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: Well there was Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and then there’s this guy, a modern day prophet proclaiming the truth without holding anything back. Exposing the lies of this world in such a creative way! This is one of the best songs I have heard on BJ in a long time. Every word is a sword. One that cuts between the soul and the spirit. The question is: Is anyone listening? Great guitar work (both of them). Vocal is perfect. I like the way you double-paired the verses, then sang the chorus. Excellent writing! Fantastic performance!

Constructive Comments: I can’t wait to get to your profile and read more about you. Just wondering: where have you sung this song, and did they kick you out? The church crowd would listen…I wonder what would happen at an open mike? Or a festival? Anyway, may God give you courage to sing it strong in many places, and may He convict hearts to ditch the lie and seek the truth. Whoever you are, I’m a fan! Mrs. Kate

Song: The Smell of Love

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: If you like flowers, you will like this song…everything from roses to lilies, daisies, violets, all used as a metaphor for this love song. Passionately sung. Nice instrumentation. Nice background vocals. Very creative lyrics! I like the way you wove the dream theme throughout the song. Bridge nicely done! I like the piano playing, too!

Constructive Comments: I wish you had posted the lyrics! I would have liked to examine them to see if I could understand where you are going with this song. I’m not sure I get it. It’s country-religious, so are you singing about God or a person you are in love with? I had trouble discerning this. Love, true love smell the same. Smell is a tough word to use in a song. It has a “stinky” connotation. The problem is (I checked my thesaurus) there aren’t too many good choices for a replacement!
