Song: Give your Heart To Me
Reviewer: Rich Goldin
Positive Comments: I enjoy this style of music. The artist reminds me of Bob Dylan somewhat. “All the booze ran out last night. It ran out while you were sleepin'”. This creates a an interesting visual in the mind of the listener. The finger-pick style of the acoustic guitar is very effective here. The song hook, or chorus if you like, is memorable.
Constructive Comments: My constructive comments essentially boil down to technical issues. The vocal is “pitchy” in places and can distract the listener from the performance and message of the song. Specifically at 1:15. Some of the lyric could benefit from editing, i.e., cutting a phrase or using an alternate word that fits better with the overall syntax. Using two close mics on the acoustic guitar, one at the neck, and another at the bridge would solidify the performance overall. Many of these things can be improved with practice and time. Keep working at it. The songs have potential.
