Positive Comments: I could hear this in a store somewhere playing over the speakers or in a movie maybe a documentary. It definitely has potential for multiple genres.

Constructive Comments: I sounds a little heavy in tone the piano gives off most of the low end and it’s bleeding into everything i would go back and tweak the low frequency on the keys and all the instruments seem to be occupying the same space in the mix I would fix that as well. I’m not sure if your using monitors or headphones to mix your song whatever works I say just be mindful your music won’t sound the same coming out of headphones as it would if it was being played in a car or computer monitors. Listen to something similar and then go back and listen to your song see how they differ and adjust accordingly. Good luck

Positive Comments: This is not my genre per say but I did like your music it reminded me of a song I heard in King Arthur if that was what you were going for you nailed it. The chords you use come straight out of a Clint Eastwood movie but the vocals say something different and give the song a medieval feel.

Constructive Comments: I have nothing negative to say but the vocals probably need to be tweaked bring them up so they sit proper in your mix and bring down the background a bit feels to me like it could sit in the mix a little better. Good luck

Constructive Comments: The song wasn’t very good i couldn’t understand what you were saying in the vocals they were low and not very clear. I thought your arrangement wasn’t very good you had too much going on I would go back listen again and do a better job on the mix. This reminded me of a song I heard in the eighties this is 2018 you have to come better than this. Good luck

Madmess by Fred Kimmel

Song: Madmess

Reviewer: John Guinn Harris

Positive Comments: Recorded well enough but not exceptional. Might be good background music for a video scene.

Constructive Comments: No enough development in both the theme and what I call the ear candy production. The listener would have to work hard to stay interested and in general we don’t want the listener to work hard. It was also a somewhat arbitrary mashup of the R&B portion into the piano relief.

Song: VICTORY (instrumental)

Reviewer: John Guinn Harris

Positive Comments: The simple theme has a place and the layering of dynamic additional instrument works.

Constructive Comments: The theme is repeated over and over and over and has no development except for the brief turnarounds. The sounds are ok but the strings are a little lacking in realism and the drums in particular are stiff and too repetitive. More dynamics in general would be good. This might be good for a low level cartoon where a short piece might be needed and the receptive nature of the music would not be revealed.

Positive Comments: Beautiful moody song. It has many wonderful sounds and soft jazz is always needed. The sax part is strong and convincing.

Constructive Comments: One thing I don’t understand is why all instruments are not engaged in the whole piece . If it is supposed to be a surprise – then it is. This situation makes the sense of unstability, specially when the base comes so late in the piece.I didn’t like the first arpeggio on the piano and didn’t like so many arpeggios and scales played in fast tempo either.i think, that to show that a pianist is fast and practices scales is not that important. Thinking Jarret you will see that he shows his technic very rarely. The most of his right hand evolutions he can sing. But of course fast improvisation is fascinating, but should be more sophisticated and is hard.

Positive Comments: Seems like this song would be a slam-dunk for TV/film. Production is excellent. Guitar sounds good and the keys are nice and round and sound great. I get the sense that the individual tracks are your band members because of the interplay between the guitar and keys, which of course is a good thing. IMHO, this is some really nice work.

Constructive Comments: Lyrics probably aren’t quite strong enough for a publisher pitch. I say that because it doesn’t draw me in emotionally, but for TV/film I think the lyrics are fine. You’ve got a little noise in the track just before the song starts that you might want to clean up.

Positive Comments: The piano improvisation is fine. In the beginning I thought that it is a electronic piano life and the rest is automatic, but the base line is fine. Rhythmically fine and catchy.

Constructive Comments: Nice song, jazzy, but for sure not modern. Modern jazz is much more sophisticated and complicated both harmonically and melodically.I would like to hear here much more different chords even if it is supposed to be in one key there are still many chords like – two five progressions to every diatonal chords, line clich, that makes you develop some melodically new story in a piece. There are also some scales, that can be introduced without a harm to the style. The other thing is a balance of the piece. Some chords making rhythm are too aggressive, they are probably too much quantized and that’s why they seem to be too aggressive.
