Positive Comments: I didn’t really enjoy the performance or the quality of the recording, but as a composition I liked it.
Constructive Comments: As a recording the mix was not well done. Your levels were very out of balance. The lyrics were too low almost the whole time, and the instrument levels seemed to wander throughout the song from just fine to too loud to too low.As far as the song goes, I think I would like to know what it sounded like at a faster tempo. I think it would present better sped up.

Song: Faceless Foes ( instrumental )

Positive Comments: I know this is a bad review and I really don’t want you to be upset. It’s not that this is a bad song, it is that you tried to do way too much with one song. There must be a hundred ideas crammed in there. I swear you have the basis for maybe 8 or 9 different songs in there.
Constructive Comments: BY jumping around from idea to idea so rapidly and so often, there was nothing that held this song together as a cohesive whole. There was no real central theme or idea that held it all together. In the end it felt more like a collection of different ideas thrown together. Going solely by this song, I would say you have potential, but I would also say you are in desperate need of learning how to edit yourself. Sometime more is not better, sometimes more is just more.

Positive Comments: This was a solid composition, well recorded and performed.
Constructive Comments: You may not want to hear this, but while I was listening, I really was like, “eh, its good but it doesn’t have any worlds so for a world beat its kind of a let down.” but the song became much more interesting when the horns started to come in and I had a different thought. I thought this song would be much more marketable if you cut it down to the 2:00 2:30 range and repackaged it as a soundtrack. Like if you cut out like half of the opening before the horns came in and then trimmed all the non-horn parts down by half, I thought it would reall make for a very appealing soundtrack for someone’s project. Can’t imagine you want to cut up and re-edit a song you just finished, but I do sincerely think it would be more marketable that way.

Constructive Comments: I didn’t like the horn, felt out of place, I think if you changed it to some kind of synthesized keyboard it would work better. You had spots in there where you stripped everything down to just the underlying bass and drums. I thought those sections lasted too long and gave your song an unfinished feel.

Song: Little Red Truck

Positive Comments: I like the opening it really catches your attention. The lyrics weren’t overly deep or though provoking, but they worked for what they were. Just a fun enjoyable song.
Constructive Comments: There were some problems with the vocals, they were well performed, more of technical issues. They really sounded like they needed some EQ work to make them sound fuller. They were really coming through in a very limited tonal range that ended up making them sound thin.It sounded like you were having trouble with the volume of the vocals in the mix, somehow they were both low in the mix and loud at the same time. Like you had to keep bringing their volume down to prevent bad peaking. It’s important to remember a human being has a natural tendency to lean forward when they are trying to add extra emphasis or volume to their voice. So when you are recording, a good trick to use is when you are going to give the vocals a little extra gusto is to step back with one foot, so you can naturally lean in and still end up being further away from the microphone. I think the constant leaning into the mic by the singer when they are giving it a little more is what was causing your issue with volume adjustment.
