Positive Comments: This has a really cool groove, kinda chill. The song would work nicely in a film or t.v. segment. I like how the bass plays a separate line.

Constructive Comments: Nice recording and memorable melodies.

Positive Comments: This has a good start with that strong Beatles-like guitar and drum riff with a strong 4 the the floor with a 16 beat on the hi-hats. You also have some cool Beatles-like chord sequences and instrumentation, so I’m sure this is no accident.

Constructive Comments: The vocals were very distracting for me. You have a very unique style which made it impossible for me to decipher anywhere near enough of the lyrics to know if I liked them or not. Try this with a professional singer and see if it lifts the arrangement – I suspect it will!

Song: Deja-vu

Positive Comments: A good band sound and a classic pop song. I’m not sure Deja Vu is an original enough title, but it has given you some good material lyrically, which is delivered in a positive way. Some really good guitar (acoustic and electric) playing here. The hook was simple and suck in my head.

Constructive Comments: Like most songs on here, your introduction, being only a simple riff, is repeated too often. You could give just one rendition of it and get into the meat of the song much faster, it’s a common songwriting error. There is a problem with the rhythm section (bass, drums) of your arrangement in the verse in that they are too busy and seem to be competing with one another – the kick doesnt’ stand out enough, meaning the rhythmic vibe of your song gets lost and leaves you feeling slightly sea-sick with the rocking momentum of it.

Song: Kiss Me (can I get to call you honey)

Reviewer: Simon Finn

Positive Comments: Well this is certainly like nothing I’ve ever heard before. I liked the verse and the chorus, but I think the song could have survived without the bridge, using it instead as a middle 8 in the final quarter of the song. You have some strange lyric choices, such as the references to kebabs and “kiss me down the stairs”…if these are intentional, then I think the quirkyness wins and it works

Constructive Comments: Depends on your intention i guess but technically speaking “Kiss me down the stairs” doesn’t really make sense and I couldn’t work out what you might be meaning if you were writing figuratively.

Song: The Rain/Vocal by Eric Tyler

Positive Comments: You really charmed me with this song. I chose to review the category “Pop – Europop”. I’m not sure how this works, but I’m pretty sure you didn’t put your song in that category, and if you did, you might want to reconsider. I’d have this down as a traditional old-fashioned latin-influenced easy listening pop song. I was wary on hearing you rhyme rain with pain, but to prove that even a cliche can be made to work, you used this as the theme for your song and delved deeper into what it could mean and really made it work. The melody was charming and I adored it. Great work!

Constructive Comments: The song was slightly too long which mean that your emotional peaks and troughs came in slightly the wrong places and got a little lost. Otherwise, good work and I look forward to submitting this review so that I can see who wrote it and to explore your other songs! Fantastic!
