Positive Comments: With a strong and original intro and outro, this song somehow has a Cajun feel to it. (Are there Cajuns in Georgia?) The most impressive part of this song is the fresh and funky instrumentation…just totally fun to listen to. Definitely dance-able. Love the guitar and the drums (ending a nice touch on cymbals). Great Bass, too!

Constructive Comments: I could not understand all the words. Work on clarity and eliminating the muddy. I am sure I would have given your song higher marks if I could understand more of it.

Song: Nothing

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This song has an interesting metaphor – that history repeats itself, stated in the first verse. It’s a stream of consciousness song with random thoughts about life and love that center around…Nothing. Easy going guitar accompaniment. Interesting thought that the price of love is high but costs nothing…a real paradox. Best lyric: Tickle history’s chimes.

Constructive Comments: I think you would benefit from working with a vocal coach – with a goal to singing with more clarity. There’s a bit of a nasal quality that takes away from the performance. Song doesn’t seem to have a real chorus, unless it’s the twice-repeated “Our eyes met..” Work on originality in lyric writing and choice of rhymes.

Song: 20 foot swells

Reviewer: Jeff Maguire

Positive Comments: Sounds like Batman’s funeral march. Really well arranged, good use of repetition and dynamics, and development of motifs. You have really developed and maintained a consistent melodic idea through the entire piece, that is not a trivial thing. On balance a very professionally done piece of work , suitable for many commercial uses.

Constructive Comments: A few of the sounds are not necessarily as good as they could be, maybe some of the percussion sounds for example. But overall this is really well done and with a very small bump up in sonic’s should be pretty easy to sell.

Positive Comments: The instrument mix was interesting with organ, drums, and bass. Not something you hear every day. The singer sounds a bit like Bruce Springsteen, although he is quite pitchy throughout the song. The lyrics were understandable.

Constructive Comments: I guess that the singer’s voice was distracting for me because he frequently was sharp or flat. I liked the gravely tone of the voice, but just couldn’t get past the pitchiness. If the song is to be commercially successful that will need to be corrected. There are plenty of inexpensive software packages out there that can do the pitch correction…even in real time where the corrections are made so fast that it happens before the sound comes out of the speakers. The song and the singer have potential, but I don’t think it’s ready to present to a music supervisor as it is.

Positive Comments: The guitar work is technically strong and the blend of instruments is good with lead guitar, bass, drums and electronic percussion. The song was pleasant to listens to and the mix was good.

Constructive Comments: I would have to say that the melody didn’t grab me. It was nice to listen to and well played, but somehow it just didn’t make me feel like I just had to play it again. And with an instrumental, the hook is the way the song elicits a positive response from the listener. I liked it and felt it was performed professionally, but the hook just wasn’t there for me.

Positive Comments: Man, I love slow blues so this is right up my alley. I think it’s commercially salable if you find the right vehicle for it. The arrangement is tight and the starkness of bass, drums and lead guitar is just right for this kind of song. It’s technically sound without trying to sound like Clapton or BB or any of the other big names in blues.

Constructive Comments: I wish I could offer more in the way of constructive comments, but the song is strong the way it is. The melody is typical of many blues songs so there is nothing ground-breaking there, but I wouldn’t have expected it anyway. The tone is good, and the interplay of the instruments is right on. Keep up the good work and you should be able to hear this in a movie or TV show some day.

Positive Comments: I like this song a lot. I like the sound of the group and think the blues harp really works well with the guitars. About the only observation I have about the instruments is that I would like to hear the bass more. I thought it got lost in the mix.

Constructive Comments: I had trouble understanding all of the lyrics. If you either tweak the mix or just enunciate more clearly I would have been able to understand them better. Other than that it’s a solid performance with good instrumentation and an interesting vocal. Keep up the good work.

Positive Comments: beautiful feel to this song, poignant song about the end of the cowboy and the life that was. vocal performance is great and I love the voice. its rich, smooth and full of emotion. The piano underpins the track throughout and is well played and well placed in the mix, it does not over power and adds some nice add on counter melody, A good story, well told in a very traditional way

Constructive Comments: Nothing really that stands out, I just listened to the song from the opening bar as a music fan not a critic so hope that tells what I think
