Song: Just Believe in Love
Reviewer: Drew Hale
Positive Comments: Great beachy vibe to this tune! Reminds me of something that Jimmy Buffet or Kenny Chesney might sing. Jazzy Island feel. Great nylon string guitar lines. Strong melody with solid vocals and good performance. Clean, clear recording. Well produced. Solid vocal harmonies, and great piano work. Lyrics are full of hope. Nice work!
Constructive Comments: Constructively I don’t have a whole lot. The recording was well produced, and the vocals were excellent. The overall song direction felt a little bit trite to me. The piano/pad sounds and performance had a bit of a dated sound to them, and made the track feel a little bit cheesy in spots. Like lounge music rather than country with an island feel. The lyrics flowed well, but overall these lyrics, while well written, were so existential (believing in “Love” and “Fairytales” and “Unicorns”), that there wasn’t an emotional connection to me. It felt like grandiose ideas rather than the nitty gritty reality of love, which didn’t really do much for me as a listener. To me, it feels like it’s been done many many times before. I think you have some great musical concepts here, but I would challenge you to go a little deeper for the next love song lyrically. Overall though, a fun song to listen to.
