Positive Comments: Great feel-good tune reminiscent of Randy Newman’s “You’ve got a friend in me”. Enjoyed the lyrics, and the bounciness of the arrangement. The song itself could easily find itself into film, I picture a sweeping shot of the chicago skyline when I listen to this. Appropriate for rom-com and sitcom features. Good potential.

Constructive Comments: Constructively, The recording would be a hinderance, to me, for placement as is. It’s very difficult to hear the lyrics in spots, and the instrumentation of the woodwinds gets lost being so harshly panned. The vocals are nice, but pitchy in spots. And there is a good bit of clipping on the track. you can hear the rattling especially in the chorus. With the vocals being so far back in the mix, both level wise and being so far back from the mic, and the hard panning on instruments, it makes for a bit of disequilibrium as I listen. especially on headphones. Good song, but the recording needs some love.

Positive Comments: Really great song. It has a lot of potential.

Constructive Comments: The one line in the bridge about painted toes caught me a little off guard. I think there is a better line there but that’s just me. I love the opening lines but I think some people might find a 20 year old with a 16 year old not appropriate. That is an easy fix.

Positive Comments: I like the energy in this piece, it seems to move well and have good flow and musical freedom. The melodies in this piece lend themselves well to visual imagery. You can picture yourself driving along the road, or by a farm. It has a very rural feel to it, as if it would be the theme song for a sitcom set in the country.

Constructive Comments: Constructively, I have a few things. The time in this piece is all over the place between instruments. The entrances particularly are very loose time-wise. The fake drums, and sax were distracting. many of the sounds of this piece felt a little too obviously fake. I did enjoy the hook of the “chorus”, but overall this song felt a little bit cheesy.

Positive Comments: Original content, really enjoyed the lyrics! This song grooves for days. Reminds me of Phil Collins meets Don Henley. Great visuals in this song, and I feel like the musical arrangement really adds to the overall “feel” of the song. It feels a little bit dark, with a little bit of attitude. I really enjoyed listening to this song!

Constructive Comments: Constructively, I don’t have much. The biggest thing is that this song just feels a little bit dated. I’m not sure it’s terribly relevant to modern country-rock. While I LOVE Don Henley’s sound, it just doesn’t sound current. A few things lead to this sound I think. The guitar tone has a bit of a fakeness to it that sounds overly processed and very late 80’s, and the bass and snare sound electronic and a tad thin. I really did enjoy listening to this piece though, and I thought the playing was great!

Positive Comments: I really loved the feeling of this song! It has a really cool upbeat vintage sound to it. Enjoyed the guitar lines, and the unique lyrics. Great story in this one, you can really see all the imagery you mention. Vivid descriptions set this one apart from others in the genre. Male vocal especially enjoyable, seems to fit the song well.

Constructive Comments: As far as constructive notes go, the time seems to fluctuate throughout the piece. Especially at ends of phrases and drums hits leading into new sections. Mix wise, the arpeggiated guitar lines leading out of the chorus are pretty hot, and sex to jump out at you, whereas the great lead line leading out of the chorus gets buried. The hits leading into the outro are very out of sync between the drums and guitars, that gets a little distracting. Enjoyed the tune overall, though.

Reviewer: Margie & Art Corey, S. & A. Corey

Positive Comments: What the heck is going on with the intro?? I’m not sure, BUT I LOVE IT!! Very unique that’s for sure!! It has that sound from the film The Thin Man….I believe that’s it? I can’t check my musical facts, because the Broad Jam App won’t allow me to leave this precious review site for fact checking!!!!!! Oh boys (Broad Jam)…you need to work on this flaw. Anyway, back to the review, great music, love the simplicity and overall feel of the composition!!

Constructive Comments: I’m not quite sure about the electric lead in the song?? It has such a subtle vibe and then the lead kicks in and it loses me! I think another approach and a more orchestral instrument would work better, but that’s just me! Again, up until the Electric lead part, you had me won over! Would love to hear more, still love the intro as bizarre as it is!! Great job people!! Really appreciate your creativity……….
