Song: Who Stole The Ivy (#1 No. Amer, USA, Folk & Folk-Americana)
Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)
Positive Comments: I love the live playing, upright bass and acoustic guitars are working well. Sweet two part vocal harmony! This is folk music. getting a John Denver vibe and that’s a heavy comparison. Loving the lyrics, a little early CSN too but it’s your own thing for sure!! Love the instrumental break with the ummmms. excellent execution on all vocal parts and instruments… you guys are the real deal!! Loved it, especially the reprise near the end.
Constructive Comments: Bass is under mixed and acoustic guitar is a little. The vocal is a little dry but not bad. Little pop at 2:27 – 2:34… try and eliminate those things if you have the means. Where is the brushes kit or hybrid percussion??!! For me, the right performance could take this already incredible song to the next level. I know again it’s always availability, budget, connections… Who knows, maybe you tried percussion. It’s awesome the way it is. Just sayin. I felt the production could have been slightly better, perhaps the recording is all analog maybe 15 years old…..

Positive Comments: The intro is very professional sounding. Great production and recording, I love all the live playing!! Thank you! Excellent instrumental arrangement on this classic.
Constructive Comments: Intro could have been a little long. Interesting panning with the acoustic far right (a little distracting only because it really sticks out). Some of the vocal doubling is not tight (2:00 etc). I like to mix my doubled vocal track substantially lower than the main this way it gives the main vocal track a fuller and slightly phased sound without show the obvious imperfections which will be there naturally unless you’re a robot. Choose your best performance as the main and drop that double back about 6 to 10db and pan it slightly L or R 9 or 15. The same voice, inflections and style throughout did become somewhat redundant A little more variation or adding other voices, maybe group backgrounds?? I am being very picky, obviously I liked the song.

Positive Comments: very cool sounding song, I like the drums and the bass guitar. I also like the sound of the keyboards.
Constructive Comments: I think the song is very well recorded however, I think the special effects sound at the beginning and at the end of the song is just too much – I would throw it in occasionally and leave it out of the introduction and the ending – best wishes!
