SABOR A MI & KUESSE IM PARK – 2013 – OSKAR CHRISTIAN by Oskar Christian

Reviewer: Floyd Kelly

Positive Comments: I love smooth jazz and this musical piece would be perfect for your smooth jazz playlist. This well-orchestrated number takes you to a simpler time perhaps reminiscent of old-Hollywood. I also imagine two people embraced in a dance on the ballroom floor. It did end abruptly.

Constructive Comments: The production quality is excellent – there’s just that repetitive vibraslap that draws the listener away from the motif. I love the panning and depth – it’s just that dern vibraslap 🙂 I did enjoy the piece. I listened twice.

Constructive Comments: This is a great tune. The only thing that I could hear was that on the lead vocals I would reduce the reverb a little bit. Just enough so that the reverb is still there but you don’t notice it. You have a great vocal there you don’t need a lot of reverb. At least that’s my thought. Good luck with this! Great song, keep it up!!!

Positive Comments: I like this song. The music is very unique, this is new and fresh. The dynamics were very good. I like the lyrics. The vocals are really good.

Constructive Comments: The only thing I could hear that I maybe would change is to make the vocals just a tinge louder in the mix. Or maybe just a little more edge, not much but just enough to make them stand out a little bit more. Great song though, keep up the good work!!!

Positive Comments: The track was nice and laid back. It had a smooth Jazz feel to it, but I could see east coast rappers killing the track. Everything sounded tight. It would also make a tight track for a movie. I liked the bongos, especially the really subtle hits. The little drop outs with fx fills were nice, and the track was fun to listen to.

Constructive Comments: I’m looking for constructive criticism, but I’m still grooving to that track. If I had to say something, I guess maybe I’d say I didn’t get the alarm panned hard left fading in and out. The drums loop was simple, but the bongos and kick spiced it up, plus for the style of hip hop, the drum loop was appropriate. Nice work.

Positive Comments: An enjoyable contemporary instrumental music piece that is perfect to wake up to. While listening, I was picturing scenes on morning television or “The Weather Channel” with clouds flowing across the screen and this music is the backdrop as I go about my morning routine.

Constructive Comments: When the music started, I was excited for something really different I guess. And I thought everything was well with this music piece … until … it seemed the drums are not sitting properly, there’s a part of the percussion on the off-beat that I think actually would be better with a standard rhythm. The repeating riff the guitar is playing could have used more enhancement. This same guitar is not present enough and an adjustement in the EQ might bright it out more. That southwestern feel of that different guitar that seems to come in later in the music is awesome – very nice. And then, again, that odd beat comes back. I think with some minor changes on this piece, it could really be more dynamic. These are just the opinions of a hairy-footed hobbit up in the woods. And I listened twice to ensure I am saying all this correctly.

Positive Comments: Well, like my great great great grandpappy’s cousin’s neighbor’s co-worker’s aunt used to say – that’s a really nice sound you got going there … and I agree. Silliness aside, this is a nice contemporary instrumental to add to your library for relaxation at home. The skilled guitarist will put you at ease.

Constructive Comments: The backing guitar or bass (can’t tell) seems to be muddy to me perhaps a cut in the EQ. The clicking/stick could have a cut in the upper to get rid of the harshness, panned further too – as is, doesn’t sound too good. I was hoping for more variation in the guitarist and there are no pauses or breaks to let what you are creating come through to the listener. I think with at least two pauses with some of the other instruments coming through – would change the whole dynamic of this piece. With “new age” music – it seems, more so, people/listeners want to be moved emotionally with sound and music – this piece – as is – did not move me – that being said, with some EQ/Mixing fixes this could be a very nice piece. I listened to this twice to make sure I am conveying the correct info. to you.

Song: Living in the Trees

Reviewer: Black Diamonds

Positive Comments: I thought the group sounded really good. The song was easy to listen to and I liked the transitions in the song sections. I also liked the background vocals. The lead sounded really good the whole time and easy to listen to.Recording quality wise, I think they nailed it. Everything seemed to sit really nicely, and nothing got drowned out. It sounded really polished.

Constructive Comments: I gave the song at least a 4 on everything except originality, and if it had felt more original, I might have given it all fives. Nothing sounded off, but nothing sounded super exciting either. Admittedly, I don’t listen to this genre alot, but I feel like all genres are pushing the envelope on developing new styes of their genre. I could be off when it comes to more niche radio, and also when it comes to placement opportunities. I enjoyed the song.
