Constructive Comments: Audio quality is a bit low and the songs’ lyrics I think are a bit eccentric for many mainstream audiences and it’s borderline spoken word.

Positive Comments: So you like cardio workouts do you? This musical piece has a nice beat and ambiance to get you through today’s workout. I can imagine listening to this in a gym, spurring people on to health and vitality as they work off yesterdays General Tso’s Chicken. I like the vocals and the message being sung by the vocalist.

Constructive Comments: A few suggestions. With the vocals, I would not categorize this as Ambient. This musical piece could go two ways. Either remove the vocals for an ambient mix or go vocal and go Pop genre. The vocals need more presence in the EQ and I noticed that the bass drum is a little heavy in the very low frequency – drawing away from the vocals and other instruments. A few areas in this piece the vocalist with her very nice voice is drowned out by the kick/bass drum which also needs a change in the EQ to blend in better. The bass line and drum line aren’t really working together yet. I listened to this twice and was not satisfied as I was wanting to hear the beautiful vocalist break out in a beautiful chorus solo to wrap things up – i.e. the vocals seem incomplete.

Positive Comments: I really am enjoying listening to this Modern Blues musical/vocal piece with the pleasant male voice leading. The musical arrangement is spot-on the groove, the bass, all levelled nicely in the Mixing/Mastering. You can feel the reverb in the bass with just enough energy to bring a certain presence to these listening moments.

Constructive Comments: To be honest I can’t find anything to put as a negative. Only small thing perhaps, a few spots in the vocals where the words were not enounced enough but is small beans compared to the whole musical piece. I hope you get exposure as this is a nice song. I listened to this twice 🙂

Positive Comments: Triple WOW. I knew this song was a gem from the intro on. Every single word was understandable lyrics so well-crafted and impeccably sung. This just goes to show you that you can have a GREAT recording with just guitar and voice. The message of this song is so needed After I get done with this review I am going to share it on my facebook. When we see those people at the side of the road, this is what we need to remember. I love the admonition not to judge. The word pictures were real and poignant (did he lose his job overseas, have a family, etc.) SO REAL. This is the kind of song I love to hear. You made my day. Glad I didn’t quit after 3 reviews today. Favorite rhyme (and that was a great bridge, by the way) reason/demon. Soft rhyme but it SO works. I’m a fan, whoever you are!

Constructive Comments: Sing it as many places you can, looking people right in the eye. My guess is that you are already doing this. There is no reason why this song shouldn’t meet success everywhere you sing it and send it. Ten stars!

Positive Comments: For a break-up song, this is a pretty fun one, and a great listen. He doesn’t sound too sorry or broken up about it, but at least it’s worth a great song. Very memorable hook! I like the way you took a common phrase and made it into the hook for your song. Nice vocals, easy to understand. Instrumentation fits the song well. Your lyric writing is good you kept it simple and easy to understand rhymes are good and fresh, not trite. Favorite lyric: news report – no make that a flash, kept it short…very clever.

Constructive Comments: I’ m not really fond of the bent note I heard at .04 and one other place. The bridge came just where I expected it to come, but I was disappointed in the second line repeating the word between. Surely you could think of something else? I was waiting for a third verse to conclude the song…but it wasn’t there. Keep up the good work and I wish you the best! You’re a good writer!

Positive Comments: This is a great song for the church, particularly during the Resurrection Sunday season, when we focus on Christ’s death and resurrection. I don’t know anyone else who has written a song quite like this one, talking about Mary and John and that episode in the passion of Christ. The song tells the story well and the images came to life as I listened. Love the part about the hammer hitting…how real can it get? Triumphant conclusion with the resurrection of Christ…way to go!

Constructive Comments: The nice energetic intro was great…for another song. This song is too sad for such a upbeat intro, in my opinion. The vocals were muddy and pronunciation of the word cross was iffy. Work with a vocal coach or find someone to demo your songs. You are a talented writer, Randal!

Song: Hope for More

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This is a pleasing instrumental piece with lots of good sounds to delight the ears. The underlying ambiance is one of latent power at the beginning, then there’s a change up and the track grows into a more easygoing mode, which reminded me of a bike ride in the country. The image of sunshine breaking through the clouds, and it became a little shimmery with the guitar coming in. The whole piece is pretty smooth and connected. It’s peaceful, serene, thoughtful. Nice job!

Constructive Comments: Intro came on abruptly (seemed to me) and ending also seemed a bit quick to me. The song didn’t appear to have a memorable hook or melody, though it was a pleasing listen. I wish you every success in finding a niche for your song!

Constructive Comments: I like the song, the recording sounds a bit rough though. I would leave out the lead guitar solo, it’s not needed – instead I would use a piano for this – best wishes!

Positive Comments: I liked the true to the origins of hip hop approach. Just a simple loop, manipulated minimally to create a verse and chorus. The vocals also sounded good in terms of volume, clarity, pitch, and quality. I also liked that it was a heavy guitar sample used, because that reinforces that early Era minimalist approach to the beat creation process.

Constructive Comments: The beat was a little messy in both sound quality and transitions between sections. The drums were lacking, the artist could have created their own Dr patterns to use with the beat and added better fills. They also could have used their own instrumental parts and infused them into the song. If the artist wanted to depend heavily on the sample to create the beat, a little more attention to smooth transitions with interesting fills would help.

Song: Here We Go!!

Positive Comments: Everything was fine, and I was able to see that the producer understands music, and can compose a professiona beat. There was a definite verse with at least one change in the middle, and a definite chorus that had at least one more element than the rest of the song. Chord progression, piano melody, drums, and everything worked.

Constructive Comments: Although everything worked together well, and sounded good, without vocals, I feel like a beatmaker/producer, has to either make the current beats that are in, make new styles of beats, or make throw back/ old school beats with a new flare. This beat, in my opinion fell into the last category, but did not have enough flare. To add flare, use drop outs, bass drops, taking out bass in half of the verse and substitute with an 808, use 2 or 3 hi hat arrangements instead of 1. Then again, I’mean not an expert in selling for commercials or TV, so I could be wrong as to how well this would sell for those.
