Song: Jitter Bug Rock

Reviewer: Sam Cooper

Positive Comments: Clear transparent recording.

Constructive Comments: Reliance on stock rhythm track and generic guitar licks puts this in the herd, but it would be well-served if there was something distinguishing here…some novel lines, chord changes, pushes or diamonds or melodic hooks.

Positive Comments: Very nice song, X meeting Johnny Cash. Great lyrics, nice move doing harmony. Nice repeating Your Heart Beat, a basic in a song like this and you get it.

Constructive Comments: I really like it. Perhaps layered it with another instrument, perhaps put a 2nd guitar and have an Allman Brothers approach.

Positive Comments: Sort of Cindy Lauper meets M. Frog. I like it, has a lot of spirit and feeling. Lyrics aren’t bad.Great hook.

Constructive Comments: Little too much piano, I would at least cut down on the chords. Chorus being just that with a group singing would really lift the song I think you would want to do.

Song: Lonely Woman (from the “Live” CD, “Black & White”)

Reviewer: Bob Nesom

Positive Comments: Very nice song. Great variety of strumming that correlates perfectly with mood created by what is sung. Lyrics are very nice.

Constructive Comments: Call me crazy, but I hear brass in this one, perhaps a trumpets or even violin. Periodic harmony, especially during chorus. Crowd real? If you must have it I would reply “thank you…” etc.

Reviewer: Jeff Maguire

Positive Comments: 60’s garage rock Link ray meets a Zeppelins style riff, pretty cool.

Constructive Comments: Heats up pretty good in the middle. I suppose in 1953 just sounding like this would be awesome cool, in 2016 I would generally expect a little more than a repeated riff with some fills. I would not be surprised if this is a song with vocals taken out for soundtrack interest, it has a real 60’s garage sound, so it might work.

Positive Comments: Nice f*cking bass. How are you getting that sound? The song begins as a cross between Pink Panther and Steely Dan. Then it flows into other sounds. I think this could fit in a TV show or in a Film.

Constructive Comments: NOT Smooth Jazz. No. I would say Unique – Soundtracks or Rock – Classic. At 1:17 is interesting. But, the lead guitar is not getting it. It needs to be a Smooth Jazz lead instrument like a sax or trumpet or other. It needs a stronger melody. That repetitive slide up part gives me the creeps every time. Sorry.

Positive Comments: A little out of my league. It is more theatrical than I usually relate to. It is good. Kind of wanders all over the place in a good way. Definitely not repetitive.

Constructive Comments: Well, that was different. I don’t know what you will do with the song. You could remove the first part and go straight to the song at 23 second. And. the first part doesn’t make sense to me. When you first opened your eyes…I knew… If you were close enough romantically for him/her to be asleep with you, how does “first opened your eyes” play out. Or is it about a baby or what? Now, I don’t know. Maybe it’s just a theatrical scene that you need to be there.

Song: I see you Love

Reviewer: Mike Cantwell – TalentEast Productions

Positive Comments: Good songwriting, I like the sound of the Vocal. Good job overall.

Constructive Comments: The recording is more like a demo recording. A little rough on the overall sound. The instruments seem to be played just fine. And the vocal is good. I’m not getting the gist of the song. I’m not catching the story. I think the story doesn’t go with the music. Maybe it could be done differently to hear the lyrics better. Maybe, a different pace or dynamics or chords. The hook is “I’m Loving What I See”. I couldn’t follow or hear clearly what the story is. Also, maybe you should repeat that hook (or a rewrite hook) again in the Chorus to drive it home.

Broadjam Artist: Nick Berry
Song: That’s What Country Is

Reviewer: Mike Cantwell – TalentEast Productions

Positive Comments: True Country sound. Contemporary Country sound. Very good songwriting, vocal, instrumentation, and recording. I could not outdo it. The hook is the only weak point, and it’s OK. Maybe an offshoot would be telling the story as “What Country Can Do” or better yet “Doing What Country Can Do” with alliteration on Do and on C (as a K sound). Just a thought. Or “Best of What Country Can Do” or “Doing What Country Does Best”. Don’t write me back a lot of sh*t, just breeze through it and move on. LOL!!!!!!!!

Constructive Comments: Maybe a tad faster. Or make it get slightly faster as it goes. It has a tone of I’m-making-a-righteous-point,-now-listen-to-me. And with a solid, determined stomp to the beat that drives that thought in a less than happy way. You probably already know most of us can speed it up just a little faster and still stay on proper pitch. Maybe a looser strumming flow would be better. Like this is happy and I’m proud.
