Positive Comments: Needs to be a little tighter – easy for me to say as I cheat and use a multi timbral synth which quantizes everything to be right on point, so I’m guessing this has some real instrumentation on it?

Constructive Comments: Low score from me for arrangement as for me the first phrase repeated itself too many times.

Positive Comments: Great song! I like the clavinet intro, and the drum programming along with it. The drumset that came in later sounded programmed but it works very well with the arrangement. The song form is logical and builds well into the bridge/solo section. The instrumentation works for this song, and is recorded and mixed excellently. The sax player definitely knows this genre!

Constructive Comments: The only thing I would inject (as my own opinion) is smooth jazz genres don’t tend to use memorable melodies, but focus on the texture and groove. I thought this melody stuck with me well enough, though. If anything else, maybe more variation of instrumentation through the track, like varying the A sections more on subsequent repeats. But that’s just my two cents…great music!

Constructive Comments: At 1 min 10 seconds into the tune with the major change in direction, I could hear it building from here rather than in the next section. But I’m splitting hairs. Still sounds great.

Positive Comments: I knew this was Harry even before the vocals kicked in. This is Harry at the top of his game. Great groove that reminds me of Mr Mustard by The Beatles (with a solo that evoks “How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?” as well). You’ve really got the vocal formula down here–it’s working perfectly for what you want and with your voice. This also reminds me of early Beck and Of Montreal. Loopy, desultory, scandalous, ironical, cynical, and comical all at the same time.

Constructive Comments: Not much this time. Good job!!!

Positive Comments: I loved the music, and the mood of the song. The vocal was also great!

Constructive Comments: I noticed that the length of the song was just a little bit long. I would try to keep it closer to three minutes. I would have liked to hear more visuals instead of mostly info. Paint a picture with your lyrics. This will go far in taking the listener on a journey as they listen. This is something I also struggle with. Have you ever heard the song “Good Directions”? “I was selling turnips on a flat bed truck. Crunchin on a porkrhine when she pulled up…..etc.” This is what is wanted in today’s market. I am also a work in progress. I don’t have any major credits to my name but I have had a lot of critiques and have come real close but no cigar yet. I hope that you find this somewhat helpful. I think you have a lot of potential. You just need to reprogram how you are going to approach your next song. I can hear this song being played during a seen in the movies. A great effort! Keep up the good work!

Positive Comments: Goodness gracious, bass madness! Bass galore in the intro and throughout (I mean that in a good way). Cool use of bass to set up the texture! Pretty quirky song and really cool! The vocals that are added later are very effective. It sort of reminds me of something Les Claypool would do. There’s some masterly bass playing in this track for sure, or if it’s keyboard bass it’s REALLY convincing.

Constructive Comments: With the quality of everything else, the drums could be better. An acoustic set would add that much more to the track if you have access to one. This is just my opinion, but the electric guitar solo sounds like it doesn’t quite fit with the sound of the rest of the track. Maybe tone down the distortion some or find some kind of overdrive that fits the sound better.
