Positive Comments: Drama and intrigue from the top. Guitar lead at 1:10 is very nice… good tone and mix placement. It would have been easy to have that guitar too loud so good job mixing it in. Nice drum samples, I like how the phase changes with every hit, gives the song a modern sound.

Constructive Comments: The whistle lead sound gives it a somewhat “X- Files” or western sound…. I hear little whip sound effects too which brings me to a western soundtrack. Song sections seem to lack cohesion and the sounds used do not support the genre or feel of the period which I am getting old western movie (the drum break sent it from a western to the civil war). The pad behind the guitar solo is a little too loud for my taste.

Positive Comments: Nice fresh open sound. Loving the groove and sounds. The pads are so beautiful. Very good programming, the drums and bass are solid and full sounding. Digging the Rhodes melodies. Guitar tucked into a nice supportive role. Cool breakdown around 2:20… Tune reminds me of Joe Sample. Song has all the elements for a hit.

Constructive Comments: Maybe the ride cymbals is a little too dominant in the mix. Getting some distortion on the piano around 2:30. Melody doesn’t seem to be featured enough for me…. other elements are stronger in the mix drawing my attention… the rhythm especially takes away from the melody. I think the intro could have been more subtle, would help to build the track. The ride cymbals all the way through is a little much, I would have not included it in the intro… maybe less percussion until the groove happens. Never really felt a strong hook present.. I hear it at :50 and at 3:10 but with all the sounds the same it doesn’t stand out for me, maybe if you had that melody on a muted trumpet or sax it would have felt more special.

Song: S Betsy Boone Main Theme

Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)

Positive Comments: Nice pizzicato violins. Kind of reminded me of a high school band warming up before a performance… like everyone is practicing their parts. An organized mess. You have a theme which you build upon adding more instruments all the time… keeps it interesting. Nice sounds… the orchestra was well tuned up.

Constructive Comments: Sounded like an exercise more than a song, similar to Row Row Row Your Boat where one part starts and another picks it up and the parts overlap. Never really developed into any traditional song form so the genre of Unique fits this song well.

Constructive Comments: Could have had a few more transitions in it or maybe a bridge to give more for a music supervisor to choose from…Lovely piece!
