Song: Doing Business
Reviewer: Will Sims
Positive Comments: This is a solid track in both writing and recording quality. It doesn’t sound like there was much production done in terms of building the song in the studio. It sounds like a rock song a bunch of great musicians wrote in a room together which is a feeling you don’t get a lot these days. Guitars, Harmonica, Banging drums, this is a full on rock song and I dig it.
Constructive Comments: When I said the song sounded like it didn’t have a lot of production, I was mostly referring to vocals. The Vocalist sounds good, the recording is pretty solid, but there chorus is so close to just hooking you in but it feels like it’s missing something that really gets “Doin Business” stuck in your head. It could be some sort of change in the music, added harmonies, or just something with the vocal melody that gives it a little more energy. This is really a nitpick because it’s a solid song off the bat. I did find myself wanting the hook the jump out at me a little more.
