Song: Stop Moaning

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: This song packs a punch at the person who blames everyone else for their trouble and never makes any progress in life. It’s a tough subject and this songwriter shoots at its victim with both barrels wide open. The lyrics are powerful and sharp, aimed right at the heart of the culprit. I think the strongest point in this song are the lyrics. The instrumental section at the end seemed to be electronic darts aimed at the person the song is about. Bound to elicit a big OUCH!

Constructive Comments: Please post the lyrics. They were pretty easy to understand but I had to concentrate to get them. I think the vocal was a little pitchy in parts. Was this song about a specific person, and if so, did singing it for that person do any good? You are an amazing writer!

Positive Comments: A ‘traditional meets modern’ kind of thing. Sax with engaging synth parts. Can appreciate the originality. Melodic. Nice construction, arrangement. ‘Horn chart’ very nice.A thoughtful, talented writer here, keeps the listener engaged.

Constructive Comments: Gosh, hard to say. Very likeable as is. I suppose that if real horns were blowing instead of the synth variants, that would be interesting. But I wouldn’t take that as a criticism. A strong work all around.

The Girl Who Saved Me (Instrumental) by Bill Dake

Song: The Girl Who Saved Me (Instrumental)

Reviewer: Tony Tersmette

Positive Comments: Love the changes, very melodic. AABA. Fresh. Delightful. Bridge fab. This is PRO stuff. A marvelous construction with a tasteful conclusion. A short piece heavily pregnant with inspiration for a longer explication/elaboration/exploration — a hearty meal, perhaps, for an ensemble — >BUT
