Song: Picnic In The Park

Positive Comments: Picture yourself cruising down a coastal highway or relaxing on the porch, and this is the music you’re grooving to. It has the sprightly trumpets of Tom Scott and relaxed feel of Herb Alpert, but as current as anything you’ll hear today. The instruments improvise with notes and beats that keep your interest, and the pleasant catchy melody is easy to follow. This is my kind of smooth jazz! Will we hear this on an album or in a movie? That’s where this tune could easily go!

Constructive Comments: You’re a terrific music maker! I’ll look forward to hearing more.

Positive Comments: Easy-going folk song with memorable hook, easy to understand lyrics, fun to listen to. “Everybody goes their own way.” That’s a pretty universal truth. Love the vocals and female background vocal, nicely mixed. Great instrumentation!

Constructive Comments: Maybe a key change toward the end to enhance the track? I am reminded of the scripture “All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way. But the Lord has caused the wrongdoing of us all to fall on Him” Isaiah 53:6

Song: Mesmerise Me (Ft. CoriAnder, Gus and Bethany)

Reviewer: Joy Solomon

Positive Comments: I like the lyrics, you can clearly hear them, the two singing voices are good independently and harmonise well together. The rhythm gets into your head and you don’t really want the song to end, it grows on you. The lyrics cover the universal subject of relationships which is good. The female voice is a surprise but a good one.

Constructive Comments: I think that the initial start to the song doesn’t catch you. The appeal of the song grows from the middle to the end especially with the two voices together. There are hard messages in the the song, never on my radar screen, that’s tough but real sometimes.

Positive Comments: This sounds very radio friendly polished, well arranged and great singing. Good production. Very easy to listen to, nothing is out of place, very accomplished piece.

Constructive Comments: For me the slide guitar is a little far back in the mix, I’d like a bit more of that coming in and out and higher in the mix to drive it for me. I’m not a country music listener although nothing against it, but it’s not super original musically or lyrically. It’s done very well but for me a little bit more ear candy there would pull me in further.Another small thing the intro isn’t spot on for me, first thing I noticed, I think it starts on a major chord. I know getting to the vocal quickly is radio friendly but I think another couple of bars with something would work better for me.The first line is a great hook. I’d like to hear that come back around too. I think it’s more interesting lyrically than a second chance.

Positive Comments: The vocal delivery makes this, it’s very gentle and loving as if sung to a child. There’s what sounds to me like a movie theme intro and then a heartfelt intimate piece, sung well with some nice instrumentation.

Constructive Comments: The production is very fuzzy, not sure what’s causing that but it would be much better if it was clearer and brighter. The track ends at 3:30 and continues to 4:24 so that’s a minute of silence, I think the whole production needs improving there. The Intro doesn’t really quite sit with the song so it feels like two distinct pieces, I think it could work as the intro with some rearranging but I feel it is also too long. The Intro sounds like the soundtrack to a 30s film, for some reason Somewhere Over the Rainbow comes to mind for me so in that way maybe it matches the lullaby idea. The 2nd part though is more contemporary with the piano and guitar backing, some hammond organ I think etc. That also has some nice changes and parts. There’s some nice heart felt lyrics there but I’m listening hard to hear a hook and not so I’d like the theme to be emphasised for me as a listener. There’s quite a lot of reverb which I think works nicely in the searching the Universe part but overall I think it should have a closer feel. Just an idea. You’ve really got something but for me it’s losing a lot in the production, slight mismatch of the parts and not helping me focus my ear on a hook.

Positive Comments: This composition’s instrumentation provided a full and rich yet “moody” theme. I really liked the contrast of the passages beginning at about 2:00 and 3:15, then returning to the original theme at the end.The complexity of this piece did not detract from my listening enjoyment. There are certainly some commercial applications appropriate for this piece. Well done!

Positive Comments: Tremendous instrumental accompaniments I really liked the lead guitar fills and the string tracks. The bass track provided an effective complement to the other instruments and the vocal track. This song had a great “feel” to it.

Constructive Comments: On the first listen, I thought the intro was a little too long, but on subsequent listenings I appreciated the intro.
