Positive Comments: There is a rawness to the singing that I really like. Gives the song a laid-back feel. The bridge is perfectly executed.

Constructive Comments: A slightly higher key, perhaps?I find the rhyme to be a bit forced and strained, especially in the 2nd verse.

Positive Comments: The rests in the main riff are very appealing.Percussion is used nicely. The pace is just right, doesn’t get frantic (despite the temptation being there to go higher with the sax, for instance).

Constructive Comments: The sounds are a bit plastic to my ears. Can they be given more body?

Positive Comments: Continouus sweep layouts are often boring, but you manage to get it in a cool way all the way thru. The bass part is also a nice fit (choice of sound). 1.50 : very interesting change of mood, excellent transition in and out.I found the quality of the mix down, compression and EQ was pretty good. So overall, I enjoyed it very much.Thank you for this exposure on Bjam !Thierry

Constructive Comments: Even though I loved the different parts (I think there are 3 or 4 moods) as a progression, I was hoping for a deconstruction in the ending, instead of a classic fade out effect on the main bus.But I realize that we are here in the ambient category, so pls take this comment with moderate consideration.Thank you for this exposure on Bjam !Thierry

Constructive Comments: Little snippets of guitar dotted here and there are sweet. Few people understand the concept of less is more but you get it.

Positive Comments: Terrific arrangement and musical interest in the song. I think this has commercial potential although it’s maybe not a contemporary sound. The guitar playing is just right and tasty for me, suiting the style perfectly.

Constructive Comments: I recognised this as the same artist I had previously reviewed but did continue, hope I have something worthwhile to say and not waste your reviews!Your arrangements are terrific, your guitar playing is spot on. The instrumentation other than the guitar is not pro quality but that’s studio fixable. I’m going to be honest though as I hear it, your singing is good and in tune but I can’t imagine hearing it on the radio. It’s just my opinion, we are all sensitive about our singing, but some of your pronunciation is a little muffled and I don’t think there’s a clear consistent power coming through that I’d like. It’s a little sotto voice or breathy. I mean I’m imagining say Brad Delp or Geddy Lee singing this (It does remind me of that type of US style rock) so it’s a high line. Some of it is levels, in parts your singing is much clearer in terms of pronunciation too, I’d like that across the song.I’m not sure it’s quite grabbing me lyrically either but that probably is even more a question of taste, I mean Rush doesn’t really work for me either! But it’s not super hooky either, again that’s not necessarily required for the style though but I’m not quite getting the story of Adeline. The intro is great but slightly leads me astray, after that I’m expecting something a bit different with some world african sounds. I hear them slightly in the mix after but it’s buried by the more straight ahead Americana style, which works, there’s plenty going on.

Positive Comments: This reminds me of Huey Lewis. Great arrangement, lots of interest and instrumentation, light-hearted and fun lyrically. Very engaging. Great bit of fancy guitar playing too.

Constructive Comments: For me the synth sounds don’t quite match up to the guitar, especially the horns. The only other critique I’d make is that there’s a lot of sounds and instrumentation which is great but they aren’t quite distinct and separated in the mix or production as I’d like them for that top professional sound. You’ve got it as a pop dance track, I think it’s just solid pop rock.

Positive Comments: Awesome slow blues! Really clean and varied lead guitar track. The rhythm guitar was well played and had just the right amount of presence. The bass and percussion were solid. Very good production value well mixed. The lack of a vocal track did not detract from this tune the lead guitar kept my interest.

Constructive Comments: Just a little longer fade-out at the end would have been good for my tastes. Otherwise, no constructive comments. Nice instrumental!

Song: You’re Not Comin’

Reviewer: Norb Studelska/Upper Air Disturbance

Positive Comments: I liked the dominant rhythm guitar chording and and interplay with the percussion. The keys and bass provided a full instrumental accompaniment to the vocals. I also liked the repeat-answering vocal backing tracks. The lead vocal had some good lyric phrasing. Good lead guitar fills. All tracks were thoughtfully mixed.

Constructive Comments: To my ears, the percussion had too much reverb effect. This didn’t detract from the tune, just my personal preference. I would also have liked a longer fade-out at the end.Good blues tune!
