Positive Comments: Such a nice groove and bass line and that very interesting pad. Really nice guitar playing. The overall vibe and tone of this song is mesmerizing and relaxing. I like the open strumming and arpeggios. Sweet song with lots of character and dynamics and creative playing.

Constructive Comments: Mix is out of balance. Too many instruments panned to the left, the vocals are too low. Too many instruments competing for the front of the mix, makes it hard for me to hear your song, I am distracted. On the second listen I know what it is… all of the stringed instruments are too loud, drop that stuff down about 5 or 6db to sit with the rhythm section… you’ll still hear everything! Guitar lead around 2:00 was very nice but guitar was again… too loud, you can hear these parts with them tucked back in the mix with the other instruments. Vocal is very bassy and unclear… cut some lows, don’t kill the body, and add a boost around 1k to 2.5k

Positive Comments: The 6/8 time signature is nice to hear (with a few 3/8 and 5/8 bars mixed in but hey, who’s counting anyways?). Really full sounding mix. This song idea is supreme… reminds me of David Bowie with a little Peter Gabriel. Extremely quality music!!!

Constructive Comments: Now that I started listening to the lyrics… wow!! Love it! The mix is soaked in reverb especially the drums and although I am aware that this is done to complement the overall sound and presentation and it creates a very large sound… it was a little bit too much… but I admit it was awesome and I did like the overall sound of your art.

Positive Comments: Pretty melodies in the beginning. Great when the drums come in. Solid and creative drum programming… the part sounds so live but the sounds and the perfect timing tell my ears that it is probably programming. Outstanding vibe established by 1:40 and I love the groove at 2 minutes. Very compelling composition… there are a lot of ups and down sections which keeps it interesting for me. Great guitar solo at 3:15 to 4 minutes

Constructive Comments: Piano is a little low in the mix. The arrangement is a little meandering… a lot of parts that have different melodies but the guitar sound stayed the same so toward the end of the song my ears were left feeling a little confused what the main theme was and because the guitar was the lead throughout and never changed tones (at 2:40 there’s more fuzz and a darker tone but still sounding similar) it made the sections (although different from one another) sound all very similar. It’s great, I love your writing and playing style but I never heard a theme that stood out and was memorable.

Positive Comments: I hear a work in need of further development. The instrument/patch choices have potential, but there is … [continued below]

Constructive Comments: … hmmm … The synth patch that opens the piece dominates throughout the work – perhaps use it more sparingly. The change at 1:15 along with piano underneath at about 1:30, deserves further development. What follows, frankly, smacks of chaos. — More attention to melody in general is needed. The string patch’s job, me thinks, but not exclusively so. … a harshness to the piece that the average listener might find hard to take, and this has largely to do with the mix. No rules here (I hate ‘rules’ personally, as there are always examples that work that flout the ‘rules’), but perhaps saving the strongest part of the song for later, or maybe providing a contrasting ‘softer’ section would make it more effective when heard. — I don’t hear clearly defined sections, which can help the listener get a handle on things. I hope this helps. Don’t be discouraged, and keep on writing!! Hey, nobody who is anybody will say this stuff is easy. Best!!!

Positive Comments: If I understand the lyrical conception correctly, the message has an ‘in yo face’ element which works well in this genre.

Constructive Comments: This is a difficult genre for me to evaluate so take this for what its worth. Perhaps a little more contrast, as in a contrasting section. I’m thinking along the lines of the standard verse chorus bridge constructions common in songs. No hard and fast rules about this stuff for sure, but a distinctive recurring section (instrumentally and/or lyrically) could give this otherwise tight and listenable work added power. Keep on writing!!

Positive Comments: Pleasing vocal. Subtle piano underneath works well. Lyrical message appealing. Memorable chorus/’hook’

Constructive Comments: There is a consistency in the presence of instrumentation and vocals throughout when, perhaps, there could be more of a building sensation. For example, the piano and or the vocal parts might be altogether absent or sparser early on, and then be added judiciously and with discretion as the song progresses. Having said that, it is a very nice piece.
