Song: The Somme
Reviewer: Kate Carpenter
Positive Comments: I admire a great history song and this one is very well written and executed. I am not sure which battle it’s describing, but it’s original and hard-hitting, especially the reference to Satan laughing over the debacle and dead bodies. My favorite rhyme: dust/cussed. The melody, written in a minor key, suits the lyrics perfectly. The riffs played by the guitar are memorable. The guitar work gets 5 stars. Sounds fantastic.
Constructive Comments: Way, way too long. 1:08 introduction…unless you are setting something up for a movie, I don’t think this will fly. This song reminded me of a bible verse: the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. When will we ever learn? Keep up the good writing. You have a gift. Maybe someday I’ll write a history song!

Positive Comments: Here’s a sweet children’s song of imagination about Storybook Hill. Enter the wonderland as you are heralded and welcomed with greeting trumpets. I really like the instrumentation. Nice reference to Gandalf! Vocal is very clear and easy to follow.
Constructive Comments: This song lacks a chorus. In order to have a memorable children’s song, it’s probably a good idea to have a chorus, or at least a repeated memorable refrain. Kids love repetition.

Positive Comments: Guy notices flirtatious girl on street. This is a pick-up song resulting in an encounter. Great instrumentation, memorable hook. Easy to understand story. Passionate delivery. Excellent production.
Constructive Comments: I’m not a big fan of this kind of song, being one of the old-fashioned kind of people who believes that sex is a sacred gift of God reserved for marriage. This reminded me of a one night stand and made me sad.

Song: Dora’s Lullaby

Positive Comments: Once in a while, you hit upon a memorable melody that you know is a “keeper”. This song is one of those. This melody speaks to me it tells a story. It’s sweet. It evokes feeling. It has all the elements I look for in a great instrumental piece. Although it is played on the piano, its beauty shines through. I can see this used in a motion picture as a theme song.
Constructive Comments: Keep on creating beautiful melodies. You have a gift!

Positive Comments: This is a very sexy song. Very descriptive and graphic. Not for little ears. Excellent instrumentation and production. Comes across as angry rock and very high energy.
Constructive Comments: Hello, Sorry but this song is not the kind of material I feel comfortable reviewing. Not saying it’s a bad song, I just find the subject matter very off limits, private. I am one of those people that believes that sex is a sacred gift from God reserved for marriage…just so you know where I am coming from.

Positive Comments: I really like your control of those sounds. Originality +. When I do You Tube I leave the ads on to see what is being used. I would say its a tie between electronic like this and Helen Jane Long. Should be an easy income besides being very pleasant to listen to.
Constructive Comments: Drum lick could have been louder. All the solo’s could be made more distinct, so they are easier to latch on to. Real nice rhythm. Like the reverb. Crowd. Like the repetition. Whoda thunk that trance when it first started would be the order of the day. I have enjoyed myself, Thank You.

Constructive Comments: I believe that the outstanding thing about this song is not the lyrics instrumentation or singer, but the message of a gentle but joyous warning of where the relationship is going. Should be able to sell it 1000 times. It is extremely well done.
