Song: The Graveyard Shift (folk rock)
Reviewer: John Walradt
Positive Comments: Lyrically, and with the loping melody, it has the appeal of Bob Seger’s “Main Street.” It’s a good story about the working person’s America. Terrific short intro. Essential to any song is a good melody and lyrics, which this has, and the addition of midi instrumentation compliments the tune very well. It has every man’s voice, which is a better choice than the beautiful voice preferred by so many producers, and has more expression.
Constructive Comments: Constructive is the place for my bias, even if it’s an unfair bias with no substance, so that it doesn’t affect scoring. I personally would go for a somewhat grittier voice like Bob Seger or Gordon Lightfoot. Well, the voice here beats my voice any day of the week so I’m a fine one to talk. I looked at some other lyrics and heard some snippets from some others you had and I thought, hey, this one’s it! I’m sure you have many more. I’d easily pick this one for a terrific album cut. In all, this is a nice job!
