Song: About You

Reviewer: Duncan McLauchlan

Positive Comments: This is a lively and well-made recording. The instrumentation and vocal presentation is first class. I’m not sure if it’s really folk, but it’s not quite country either. Wherever it needs to be categorized, it’s really good, well-produced, and well played. It has a good range of instrumentation, fitting for this style.

Constructive Comments: This is overall a strong song. I’ve no real criticism other than the first note was a bit f a shock to the ears. That could have been built up rather than dropped like a hammer. While it has a good pace and drives nicely, it maybe could have been “developed” over the first couple of verses, rather than all in all the way.

Positive Comments: This track has the hallmark and potential to be of high quality. The sound is top notch.

Constructive Comments: There is no real structure to the track which makes it all gel together coherently – and this is what I suppose makes it sound so original. The instrumentation, rhythms and chord progression seem to be independent trying to fight their way through the track. Additionally, this does not fit within the electronic dance genre – yes, you make use of electronic instruments but the feel is not electronic dance…

Song: Still In Love

Reviewer: Duncan McLauchlan

Positive Comments: This is a very well produced song. The overall quality is excellent. Good build and development, with a pleasant and well-carried theme. The tune is simple, but interesting and easy on the ear.

Constructive Comments: I could only add to this by suggesting that a more obvious walking bass line be introduced fairly early to give it a more robust swing to carry an otherwise good performance.

Positive Comments: Nice instrumentation, well played – lovely violin! and guitar – nice sonic values

Constructive Comments: Loop-based drum backing has limitations, and the high frequencies (eg cymbals) seem too dominantSomething like a melody seems to start at around 2:18, perhaps sooner may be better

Song: Spiraling Out of Control

Reviewer: Simpson-Mancine Band

Positive Comments: This certainly has a solid cinematic appeal, and is just a good listen all-around. There are some fantastically dissonant note/chord choices in here that take us from flowing melody to somehow feeling like an old upright player piano that is about to go off the rails…and then back! It is almost more a feel than a sound. The slightly offset left/right hand rhythms in those parts really heighten the effect. Well done!

Constructive Comments: Nothing more to add…a well conceived and performed song!

Song: Reach Out

Reviewer: Simpson-Mancine Band

Positive Comments: Nice intro into a nice, tight, classic pop-rock groove that reminds me a bit of Journey. Good use of percussion in the mix and a very positive feel to the song overall.

Constructive Comments: Good tune…Electric guitar seems a bit buried in the mix as far as EQ and level. Backing harmonies are nice, would love to hear some harmony or doubling of the main vocals, too.

Positive Comments: great song guys, good lyrics, good hook, good arrangement, solid performances,

Constructive Comments: my only criticism is the mix, sounds like the recording is fine but the mix or master is a little bass heavy, a little low end heavy, needs to pull some 100 – 200 range and add some 3-4k range, is gets a, little muddy. and the drums need a little more high end m especially the snare its kinda low and thudish, needs a little more spank.. Just trying to add a little positive grit feedback, but great work…
