Positive Comments: Wow that sweet guitar kicks the song off so nice. The song itself is in a different mood when the vocal comes in, but the melody line is very nice. As a fan of rockin’ guitar, I have to admit, I was waiting for that guitar to kick back in.

Constructive Comments: Man I wanted more of that heavier guitar line in the last minute of the song! The chorus is nice but not super catchy, and the lyric gets a little “new age”y for me. The singer has a nice tone, I would have liked a little more force behind the vocal, maybe record or mix more to the front. Matter of taste.

Song: The Sheik’s Harum

Positive Comments: Bright stringed instrument intro is soon joined by a combination of instrumentation that I’ve never heard before. Highly original. Super engaging and catchy. The clarity of the recording and mix is so good that all these crazy sounds are perfectly balanced. The percussion is guttural and very human sounding with other (I cannot discern) sounds mixed in. Super creative. Sort of reminded me of a sitar…but not.

Constructive Comments: The ending should be as fun as the beginning. It was a bit anti-climactic for such an interesting composition.

Positive Comments: The strong point of this song is the chorus. Don’t call for me.Don’t crawl for me.Don’t bleed for me.Don’t plead for me.Very catchy lyrics. The classic “I don’t need anybody song”. The verses have a unique imagery all their own. Nice instrumentation and vocal performance.

Constructive Comments: Dream body. The accent in the word body is on the first syllable but you place it on the second, which, I feel, is a bit awkward. To make the song shorter, you could edit the instrumental section at the end, Also the intro. I had a hard time discerning the words in the first line. Your lyrics are all over the place and kind of went over my head…but maybe that’s because it’s new age/meditative (and I’m out of my genre here). What is the song actually saying in the verses? I get the chorus.

Positive Comments: Beautiful melody, beautifully and passionately sung. Here is a song about a young lover the setting is the beach. Nice piano instrumentation, dramatically presented. Nice background vocals. Well-placed key change.

Constructive Comments: The accent in “ecstasy” is supposed to be on the first syllable. You place it on the third, which is a bit awkward. Sorry to be a stickler about spelling, but innocence (not innocents). I can’t help but think there is something missing here relationally. The way the song comes across (at least to me) is this older guy seeing this teenager on the beach. Then all of a sudden they are having this “lovers’ encounter”. Where did the innocence go if she’s acting like woman of the world? I’m probably taking it wrong but it kind of gave me the creeps. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

Positive Comments: gee, I know who this is…. my fave song of yours thus far – hits on all cylinders – great production, lovely groove, stellar lyrics and a wonderful hook. Chord progression is sweet, vocal melody right there working well and the harmony vocals are just right. And of course – the horns are mmmm mmmm good (as are the sax fills!

Constructive Comments: can’t think of anything constructive to say to make this any better than it already is – hit song!!!

Positive Comments: lots of goodness going on here – structure of the song is nice, instrumentation works well.Effective use of the harmony vocal – knowing when to place it for effect.vocal parts are strong throughout and the answer back vocal on the 2nd chorus is very nice as well.Good hook and nice lyrics – I often feel the same!!!I got a real Poe vibe from this track!

Constructive Comments: the way “Brutalizing” was sung sounded like an affectation and didn’t fit with what I had heard before that.I would have cut the 2nd half of the first chorus (it’s not like you don’t use that part again at the end anyway) overall I really enjoyed the song.

Positive Comments: I liked the groove established here. The lyric are solid and the hook works well.

Constructive Comments: I hate being negative as I know who you are via having reviewed another of your songs – the same things apply here – I would sing this the verses of this song in a lower register for starters. As it stands I feel that the 3rd line of the verses could use a completely different melody, playing off the chord changes instead of adhering to them.”When I think back” feels rushed. The guitar solo is pretty weak – sounds like you were trying to be creative and ended up with no flow or cohesion and some passing notes that didn’t fit.I would have faded out the song much sooner, as there is a serious breakdown in the bass and the ending is very weak and disjointed. Once again there are the roots of a very nice song here – really like the groove to this – perhaps trying singing this more as a spoken piece and not so sing song with the melody.

Positive Comments: Straight fives! Very clever title and lyrics with an unlikely happy, bouncy, hooky tune that effectively adds sarcasm, and that’s not all of the genius that goes into this tune. The background female vocals work beautifully. The instrumentation is clear. This could also pass as a crazy fun novelty hit.

Constructive Comments: To have a couple of brews to celebrate after recording something like this is a good idea.
