Positive Comments: Good dance song, very professionally done, well written, well produced. I especially liked the change at 2:15 of the song. Vocals went well with the overall vibe of the song. I really liked the percussion and beat/rhythm.

Constructive Comments: I don’t listen or write this style of music so I can’t really offer up much in the way of suggestions. It all sounded pretty good to me. I’m not even sure how one comes up with these beats for these style of songs. Nice job all the way around

Constructive Comments: Considering I’m not big on drum machines anymore, the only thing I’d like is to hear it done with live musicians.

Positive Comments: This is a mighty fine piece of writing! You can listen to it on about 2 or 3 levels: relational, spiritual, neo-philosophical. I absolutely love the way the whole composition comes across. It echoes the common fears we carry with us in this uncertain day and age. The reference to ancient and electronic is stellar, as is this verse: I was looking for escapeI was looking for a place to healNow I’ve opened every doorEach one leads into a battlefieldThis is excellent writing! The vocals are crystal clear and the use of effects on the vocal is excellent and super-effective. It’s precise and emotionally real at the same time. (storm/let it rain – love this!) There’s a lot of wisdom and positivity wrapped up in this song. (when the moon is new, I try to turn things around).

Constructive Comments: This song would probably win some kind of a contest. (Don’t ask me what kind!) I definitely want to hear more from this artist! Who produced this? He/she did an excellent job! No criticism, just praise for this one. Bravo!

Song: BACK TO THE CIRCUS!

Reviewer: Kate Carpenter

Positive Comments: Slow and easy blues song about going back to the circus. The lyrics are clever and easy to understand. Almost predictable…just enough to make it fun. I really like the way the writer stuck to his theme and didn’t “fly off” in another direction. The word pictures were great and I wouldn’t change a thing about the lyrics. Very original! Super fun to listen to. It’s rather comical and ironic that a circus song would be so slow, but it’s a great composition. LOVE THIS!

Constructive Comments: Wow, too long to be commercial, I’m afraid. To remedy this, cut the repetitive verses and shorten the instrumental sections. Have you ever been a part of a circus? Just curious. I always wonder if a songwriter is writing about personal experience or making the whole thing up. In this case, I am guessing the latter. Let me know if I’m wrong.

Positive Comments: Interesting topic! Very creative presentation of a unique subject. I could almost feel the breeze tossing my hair! The intro sets up the song beautifully. The clarity of the vocals is praiseworthy and the excellent mix keeps them right up front. Nice drum and guitar work! Effective backup vocals. Production is very professional, with a great attention to detail. I like the way you went through from summer to winter in the story. Nice, well-thought out ending.

Constructive Comments: “but she and me” I question the grammatical correctness of that. Who ever says she and me? The do-do-do section (pop scat?) was interesting, don’t know if that helps the commercial appeal or not. When you sing “summer” I’d like to hear a more vertical/round than horizontal sound…Do you know what I am talking about when I say that?

Positive Comments: Good strong get lost, I’m so over you message song. Clever, witty lyrics (and risqu in parts). Nice hybrid pop and rock (electric guitar use gave it a rock flavor). I like the vibe of the song, vocal style perfectly synced with the feel of the music and lyrics. We can all relate to that one we broke up with ithag we look back and wonder if we shouldn’t have. I like the lyric “you’re not my ex, I’m your ex” or words to that effect which perfectly sum up the message of how the singer is asserting that she is the one in control of this whole thing and not him. Also, nice musical change at about 2:30 I think if was? Or maybe 1:30?

Constructive Comments: Production good, maybe some more dramatic instrumentation could make it pop even more?

Positive Comments: everything seemed to flow together really good. i like the song even though i do not listen to this type of music often. i think its country, but i could be wrong because country has changed so much over the past years, a lot of it sounds like pop to me, anyway, this recording is really nice, i like the lyrics, and i think that you might get this placed somewhere.

Constructive Comments: it was a bit too long for my own personal taste. i had to force myself to stop what i was doing to make sure i listened.. as it was very long.
