Song: After Midnight
Reviewer: Phil Bouldry
Positive Comments: This song has some nice points in the melody. There is some interesting instrumentation. Some synth parts that are ear-catching. The drum comes right in at the outset and holds the beat through the song. There is a nice variety of voices in the mix. The change is nice, in a good spot, but just a tad bit empty.
Constructive Comments: This song is sort of like a plane that is taxiing down the runway towards takeoff, and then never really gets up to speed. It A L M O S T gets there by the change where the clarinet voice comes in, but just not quite. Since there are no lyrics, it’s important that the music is more dynamic. Start, build, denouement, end.The recording sounds like it needs to be better recorded and mastered, if air quality is the goal. The drums sound TOO electronic.
