Song: Get After It – Full Mix

Reviewer: Bob Birthisel

Positive Comments: Excellent energy and it’s nice to hear real instruments instead of phony this and that. Plenty of dynamics and it could easily be used in film/TV scene backgrounds. Nice instrumental.

Constructive Comments: For my taste, waiting 56-seconds in to bring the lead guitar was about 50% too long. I was sure it was just a bass and drum track and almost clicked out around 40-seconds in.

Positive Comments: The track has some interesting layering of synth parts going on at times during the song. To my ears It sounds like a song that was recorded some time ago. It definitely captures a retro 80’s sound. New age I’m not sure because I don’t listen to enough of the genre but I feel like there are some older model synths being used here like a DX7 or D-50 or at least their plug in version

Constructive Comments: Could use an upgrade in sounds.

Reviewer: Ian Graham

Positive Comments: The backing is not so much an accompaniment as a counterpoint to the melody – and both are strikingly original, as are the lyrics about a fawn. Well sung, well structured and well balanced.

Constructive Comments: Perhaps the vocal could draw out the long notes a little more at the end of phrases, but that’s just a minor point. I found the whole song original, well-performed and refreshing. Good luck with it.

Positive Comments: A beautiful, haunting eclectic piece. I really enjoyed the sounds and blends of rhythms, vocals and somewhat unique instrumentation. I enjoye the opening with the violin, and it’s reappearances throughout the song. Particularly the beginning of the song had me guessing where the song was going which was intriguing and hooked me from the beginning. Vocals also vibes very well with the mood and feel of the song. I will like to see the artist after my review and listen to some other songs.

Constructive Comments: I had a hard time deciphering the lyrics especially in the first half of the song. Toward the middle and end the lyrics seemed easier to hear for some reason. I would have liked hearing them all. That’s why I marked “quality of lyrics” down a bit, I could not hear them. But then my wife tells me I have wax in my ears so maybe it’s my problem.

Positive Comments: There’s a lot to like here. Very unusual chord progression kept my interest and the vocal fit the song well. I would love to hear a clean version of this.

Constructive Comments: Drowning in synth and unfortunately I couldn’t make out a lot of the nuances due to the low-end recording quality. I’m guessing it’s a home recording and a pro studio with a strong engineer could really whip this into shape.
