Song: Looking at the face of God

Positive Comments: This is a gripping song about someone driving downtown and seeing the down and outers/homeless struggling to survive on the streets. The word pictures are excellent and evoke empathy from the listener. “You’re so lucky,” so have some compassion on those you are seeing who have been “dealt a bad hand” and need kindness. Excellent message. Interesting use of the phrase “turn the other cheek” which usually means a reaction to anger, but here it seems to follow more in the line of a Levite in the Good Samaritan story. He turned away and didn’t help the victim of beating and robbery. Smooth vocal, excellent instrumentation and production. This is a polished piece that deserves (and needs to) be heard by many. I could see it used in a movie or a documentary or music video.

Constructive Comments: Let me know if you ever put this on youtube! Great stuff and I definitely want to hear more.Ending was a bit abrupt for my liking. When you’re next downtown. Awkward lyric. I think that one should be changed. You might say (in real life, not a song) Next time you’re downtown. But would you really say, “When you’re next downtown”? After the word next in that context, you might expect to hear Next in Line or something like that. Anyway, I would rework that first line if possible for a smoother delivery and comprehension.

Positive Comments: Extremely cool compilation! It’s like a mash up of country/jazz/new age/sound track. Really intriguing, it provokes a lot of diverse imagery and emotion, goes to unexpected places but tastefully, gracefully, it all ties together. I have to say my favorite part is the beginning with that delicate fairy-like chime/piano coupled with the harmonica, was like wild west dreamland.

Constructive Comments: Can’t wait to see who you are and check out more of your work!

Positive Comments: Three Simple Words. I love you. That says it all for this simple, pretty song. Nice instrumentation and production. Background vocals enhance the lead vocal.

Constructive Comments: When a song is listed as Pop-Standards, is it an original song or a cover? Please let me know because this would affect my evaluation of the song. Work on pitch. Vocal seems to need refining.Song is too long, in my opinion.

Positive Comments: To write a good country song, you need a bit of humor, a believable story and a good metaphor. This song has all three! The songwriter pairs women and fishing. I’m sure the fish don’t mind, but the women? Well? The old adage, “It’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission” is a great chorus lyric. I love the way he opens up with the bass fishing hole and goes on to relationships. The fishing license and the marriage license are a clever tie-in. This is a piece of excellent lyric writing. Made me smile!

Constructive Comments: The vocal (sorry to be critical) seemed a bit off to me. Could be it’s just your style and way of singing. So please forgive me if that’s so. There also seemed to be some timing issues. But all in all, I am convinced that this is an excellent song.

Positive Comments: It’s a rap it’s a rebuke: Why you talkin’ that trash talk? At first I thought it was a mom scolding her kid then I thought maybe it was a lover/wife chewing out her ex for trash talking her. She is the one who pays the bills so you better have a little respect. That seems to be the theme of this very original composition. Not too fast like some rap/hip hop songs that leave you scrambling to keep up with the rapid fire lyrics. This one is actually pretty understandable. Keep the good stuff coming!

Constructive Comments: And I hope he got the point and changed his ways! Please, take the time to post the lyrics to your song. I really wanted to look them over so I could catch all those amazing rhymes. I thought I heard “pharmaceuticals” in there. Clever, original stuff!

Positive Comments: A very heartfelt tune, anyone who has gone through heartache can relate to this! I love the honest and articulate lyrics. The piano is very nice in the arrangement, also like the strings, really adds to the sentimentality.

Constructive Comments: Although I do enjoy the simplicity of the instruments, I wonder if a hint of percussion might be a nice addition in the chorus, as it it kind of crescendos there. Just my humble opinion

Positive Comments: Beautifully sung, really enjoy the vocals. The song has a great vibe, mellow but still has a lot of movement, matches the vocals. Recording sounds great. Definitely one of the best tunes I’ve heard on this website.

Constructive Comments: The reason I gave arrangement 4 instead of 5 is because the song seems a little long, in my opinion.

Positive Comments: I can imagine this in an advert, film, television. Makes me think of American bars. I can imagine people clapping along to this. The music is up beat makes me feel I want to move to it. I can imagine cruising to this too. I like the sound very much.

Constructive Comments: I like the instruments, I also like the beat and the tempo. I love the guitar. Leaves me feeling I want to hear more. Good recording, makes the imagination wonder. Not sure what title to give the instrumental probably something short. Very good.

Positive Comments: I love listening to electronica, and experimental pieces are lots of fun and enjoyable. This is very well done: a consistent set of notes that make a simple pattern with background variations. This kind of music is for sitting back, thinking, drifting. It’s not boring in fact it’s an interesting repitition.

Constructive Comments: Since I love electronica but I don’t write it, I’m not qualified to look for things to suggest. Most of my suggestions are for experimentations that might work or might not, anyway.
