Positive Comments: The piano is played with sensitivity and commitment and the mood is maintained throughout. It would make an excellent underscore, as it would not overpower visual images and could blend with dialogue. The string pads add warmth to the overall sound, and operate in different registers, giving tonal contrast. It creates abiding aura of melancholy and sounds sincere and honest.
Constructive Comments: In order to make this more effective as a stand alone piece of music, it would, in my view, benefit either from some more harmonic or melodic development, or the introduction of a contrasting secondary idea. After 4 minutes some respite from the tonic pedal and insistent D minor tonality would be welcome. Perhaps the strings could take a more active melodic role in this, or there could be a more extended departure from the D pedal in the middle, notwithstanding the existing brief visit to Gminor, so that its return was welcome? But then it is billed as a soundtrack piece, and as such it works fine.
