Reviewer: Third Word

Positive Comments: The Arrangement is interesting but the selection of instrumentation could be much stronger.

Constructive Comments: An less electric more acoustic arrangement, featuring an upright bass, live drums, piano, and muted trumpet (more Miles Davis like) with a Raelette type female backing trio would make this very strong.

Positive Comments: Broadjam called this a pop classic but it’s more country classic, and I do mean classic. Pure Americana you’ve got going, lyrically and melodically. It leads straight into a hook and you carry it through, saying something old in a new way. Good job! Your musicianship and studio skills are great…I wish I could say that for myself. I suck at that. I am a songwriter, not a performer. I don’t listen to a lot of country but I know a hit when I hear one. I like the idea that you have a character that stings again and again just because she was hurt…a good story with a psychological edge.

Constructive Comments: It’s a hit, but like a lot of other hits. A darned good one, but not one that would make smack me hard. I think you’ve got it in you to come up with the hit that stands out like no other. Hey, I’ve listened to a bunch of songs that I think could be included on albums, a bunch of others that are just filler. You have a hit. Finally, I’m not the last word, hell, not even the middle and since muscular country themes are not my common ground, I may not be justified in my comment. But if you can get the attention of a Joni Mitchell, Kraftwerk, CSNY, electronica fan, you must be doing something right.

Positive Comments: Wowza, what an infectious sound this tune has, very cool! It’s super Raw, but that’s what makes the song so COOL!! The voice isn’t perfect, but that’s what invites the listener in!! Love the sound of the drums in the arrangement, I think I know who this group is, but not positive?? Anyway super Funky sound, you can take this tune to the Bank!!

Constructive Comments: Think this compositions sounds great as it is!!!!!

Positive Comments: Your musicianship is absolutely excellent and you are studio savvy. You’re massively better than I am at that. Very nice resonance on the keyboards. It works well for listening while you work, drive.

Constructive Comments: I’m a songwriter and not a performer, so I look for unique melodies that stand out, so my comments may not even be on the same track as your intentions, and very importantly, I am by no means the last word. There isn’t a hook I can grab onto, it’s not particularly memorable. Just offhand, a hooky and memorable instrumental would be “Jessica” by the Allman Brothers Band. Melodically, yours is so-so. Welcome to the club! I’ve done more than my share and you must write dogs if you want to keep coming up with great tunes.

Song: Just Breathe

Positive Comments: I’m a songwriter, not a performer, so you get the highest marks for your musicianship and recording skills. It has a contemporary electronic slow dance tempo that is quite nice. Vocals are stunning.

Constructive Comments: I would not consider this a single, but it is not by any means filler or a throwaway. I would include this song on an album. Lyrically, it is almost cliche and the melody seems parental and stern in mood. Or, it doesn’t say something in a new or different way. And remember…I am not the last word in fact I may not even be in the first or middle. There’s no doubt you’ve got the stuff.

Song: How’s the Weather Today? Margie & Art Corey

Reviewer: John Walradt

Positive Comments: Excellent musicianship, excellent originality, and really goes with the genre of dream pop. Lyrically significant: it says something, it’s not trite. I have a greater tendency to look at things from a songwriting perspective because I am not a performer. It’s definitely worth inclusion on an album.

Constructive Comments: Okay now, I’m from the 70s and 80s, so that colors things. I am not the last word (not sure if I’m even the first). I am a melody person and I love songs that are unique and they are not easy to come by. I should know because I’ve written a bunch of so-sos. I would not consider this song a single release. However, it is by no means a throwaway or filler. From listening to this, you’re one of those that is likely to write a wonderful hit.

Song: Lost In Love

Positive Comments: The tone and timbre of the lead vocal is very strong. The keyboard sound is beautiful as well, and the feel of the song is very tender. Overall a nice listen.

Constructive Comments: Pop, not rock. I would re-think the mix of not having any “low end” (bass or drums) enter until 1:40. That’s really late in the game and someone looking for depth may have clicked out after 30-40 seconds. The song has too much potential to be lacking that punch in my opinion.
