Broadjam Artist: Sam Cooper
Song: SHE’S THE HURTIN’ KIND
Reviewer: John Walradt
Positive Comments: Broadjam called this a pop classic but it’s more country classic, and I do mean classic. Pure Americana you’ve got going, lyrically and melodically. It leads straight into a hook and you carry it through, saying something old in a new way. Good job! Your musicianship and studio skills are great…I wish I could say that for myself. I suck at that. I am a songwriter, not a performer. I don’t listen to a lot of country but I know a hit when I hear one. I like the idea that you have a character that stings again and again just because she was hurt…a good story with a psychological edge.
Constructive Comments: It’s a hit, but like a lot of other hits. A darned good one, but not one that would make smack me hard. I think you’ve got it in you to come up with the hit that stands out like no other. Hey, I’ve listened to a bunch of songs that I think could be included on albums, a bunch of others that are just filler. You have a hit. Finally, I’m not the last word, hell, not even the middle and since muscular country themes are not my common ground, I may not be justified in my comment. But if you can get the attention of a Joni Mitchell, Kraftwerk, CSNY, electronica fan, you must be doing something right.
